“My academic background is more technical, but I always wanted to work with project management. Here at Capgemini, that wasn’t an issue at all. Instead, I got the support and guidance I needed to be where I am now.”

What’s funny is that I used to walk past the Capgemini office in Malmö every time I went to my lectures at Malmö University. However, I didn’t know what kind of company Capgemini was until I heard about their IgnITe Graduate Program from a friend who had previously applied to their trainee program. It was perfect because I was looking for job opportunities within consulting, which I was interested in. That’s how my journey at Capgemini started. After working in Malmö for two years, I transferred to Capgemini’s office in Stockholm because moving here is something that I wanted to do for a very long time. The good thing, and one of many benefits of being a consultant, is that it didn’t affect my work, my projects, and the clients since they weren’t local. Being a consultant at Capgemini comes with freedom and many opportunities.

Tell us about your role. What does a day in your life at Capgemini look like?

What my days look like depends on if I’m with a client, if I’m at home, or If I’m at the office. But to summarize my workday, I attend many meetings, and check my e-mails to see If there is something urgent that needs to be fixed. I do a lot of planning as well. I make sure that everyone on the team is doing well and that everyone works in unity. Then there is the work after the projects and the planning, such as doing follow-ups and writing protocols.

Apart from the above, I’m also part of some of the internal projects and events that Capgemini arranges, for example, assisting college fairs to represent us. When I’m at the office, I gladly grab a cup of coffee with my friends and colleagues!

How does Capgemini support your development?

Capgemini offers a lot of freedom in terms of where and when you work, but also in terms of building your own path and broadening your knowledge. It truly has challenged me to take matters into my own hands and push myself into developing and building my own career path. In fact, my academic background is more technical, but I have always wanted to work with project management. Here at Capgemini, that wasn’t an issue at all. Instead, I got the support and guidance I needed to be where I am now, even though I didn’t have any previous knowledge.

What characterizes the people and culture at Capgemini?

I would describe the culture as “comfortable”, in the sense that everyone is very kind and welcoming even if you haven’t met a person before it is very easy to talk to them. There are many internal initiatives where we can hang out outside of work hours to get to know one another. Thanks to those events I get to know colleagues from different departments. Additionally, we have different activity groups such as sports club and arts club that anyone can be a part of. That’s the culture of Capgemini to me.

What’s the best thing about Capgemini?

Besides my colleagues, whom I consider to be my close friends, it’s that Capgemini is a global company with different kind of clients. Working for a global company gives you the opportunity to develop, where you decide how you want to work. Whether you want to work with different projects like I prefer, or if you want to stick with one project. You can grow in so many ways and the development opportunities are endless. Apart from that, we have a lot of sustainability and inclusivity initiatives, where projects and events are arranged to highlight those topics, which I consider to be truly important for everyone.
