“All projects I have been involved in, since my start at Capgemini Invent, have really been pushing boundaries to prepare our clients for the future to come”

Helena is a Manager in our frog Customer First capability unit and based at our Gothenburg office

I joined Capgemini Invent as a consultant in 2015 after graduating from University of Gothenburg – School of Business, Economics and Law. During my Master studies in Management and Corporate Finance, and through several engagements within the Student Union, I got in contact with several colleagues at Capgemini Invent, which eventually resulted in an application and an assessment process.

Since joining Capgemini Invent, I have had the fortune to be involved in multiple projects across different sectors, mainly focusing on digital transformation connected to topics, within our frog Customer First capability unit. To exemplify, I have been part of the digital and strategic development of an E-commerce channel for a global OEM, I have managed a project aiming to define an innovative waste management solution for a large retailer, and I have been part of a traveling team launching a new CRM system in several European markets. My journey at Capgemini Invent has so far been both very rewarding and challenging, and thanks to the dynamic work environment I am always curious to see what is next.

Tell us about your role at Capgemini Invent?

As a Manager, I most often have the role as the project lead in my projects. This implies that I am responsible for the overall project delivery, including project planning, coordination, progress, and follow-up. I also drive the business dialog towards client and provide advice and recommendations for future directions and next steps. I spend my days together with the team, which often includes members from both Capgemini Invent and the client, and I see that an important part of my role is to ensure that the team members thrive and feel empowered and supported.

Internally, I am as a Manager further strengthening my expertise and focus within the area of digital transformation, and I contribute with my knowledge and expertise to the business, content and people development within our Customer Strategy & Performance team.

Looking back at your years at Invent, what are your key takeaways and highlights so far?

There are several moments and experiences that I could highlight as key takeaways from my journey at Invent, but I would say that the top three highlights would be; 1) when I was assign to lead one of our first projects with a pure sustainability focus 2) when I got the opportunity to participate in a leadership program at Capgemini’s University Les Fontaines and 3) when we all slide down the slope in the Austrian Alps after a really fun and long after ski.

We help clients invent their futures by bringing to life what’s next. Please tell more about this, perhaps by sharing an example.

All projects I have been involved in, since my start at Capgemini Invent, have really been pushing boundaries to prepare our clients for the future to come. To exemplify, one of my projects aimed to define and develop a new service for an electric car brand that could be launch on a global scale. The service needed to respond to the future needs of customers and consumers in an automotive industry which is under continuous disruption and currently faces a major transformation.

How does Capgemini Invent support your development?

As a consultant at Capgemini Invent, you are trusted and supported in your delivery from day one. This means that you are trusted in taking responsibility for your own tasks and deliveries and interact with the client already from start. But simultaneously you are supported by your team, your manager, your counselor and the global Invent community. A key matter for my own development is that I have been encouraged to always take on roles and projects that have challenged my comfort zone – You grow by experience and learn by doing – and this has undeniably resulted in a steep learning curve for me. Having a counselor (a more senior colleague) who can advise and guide you on your career journey has also been a great support for my development. I am responsible for my own journey, but I have the support to make decisions and the flexibility to change.

What characterize the people and culture at Capgemini Invent?

I would state that the culture is determined by the people, and the people were the reason for me choosing Invent. I work with smart, humble, and unique colleagues every day.
