During my final year in the master’s program at Uppsala University, where I studied Sociotechnical Systems Engineering, I made the decision to apply for Capgemini’s IgnITe Graduate Program. I had heard positive feedback about the trainee program and naturally became curious. Moreover, I had the impression and vision that being part of a global company like Capgemini would provide opportunities for growth and a diverse range of work experiences, which has proven to be accurate. I’ve been working on the same project since day one, which is now over two years ago, and it’s amazing to see how much I’ve grown professionally. Initially new to the industry and consulting, I am now among those with the most insight and knowledge about the project. I consistently feel a sense of learning, and despite working with the same client, I’ve had the chance to engage in various tasks that have significantly contributed to my career growth.

What has the IgnITe Graduate Program given you and your career?

I believe that the trainee program has a good combination of technical courses and courses that are more aligned with communication and presentation skills. This diverse set of training has significantly contributed to my professional growth.

During these trainings, we were able to get to know all the new joiners and network with each other, and I found this aspect incredibly significant as well. It was very reassuring to know that everyone was in the same position when we attended the courses, even though we were in different projects, teams, and had separate roles. That itself shows all the different opportunities Capgemini offers to everyone. Even I, with a broad engineering education and who was uncertain about which area I wanted to work in, could find a project and a role that suited me. Moreover, if you feel like trying something new, the opportunities and support are there.

How does your work challenge you?

There is a lot of complexity in the IT sphere. I’m constantly learning new things and encountering new aspects or tools that are unknown to me, so I need to always keep myself updated. Additionally, although I’ve worked on the same project, it can still be a bit challenging to understand the client’s needs and find a solution that is the most suitable for them. However, these challenges are the reasons for my growth here at Capgemini. All the support I’ve received and the opportunities to take on more responsibilities from the start have helped me grow as an engineer and a consultant. 

What makes you proud to work at Capgemini?

What truly excites me and makes me proud to be part of Capgemini is that we work at the forefront of technological innovation. There is also a strong focus on digital inclusion, sustainability, and equality. I sincerely believe Capgemini cares about its employees and about bettering our society. 

What is your best advice for a student who wants to start the IgnITe Graduate Program and a career at Capgemini?

I would say that you don’t need to feel like you have to know everything. Here at Capgemini, you get the opportunity and support to explore, learn, and grow. I know I felt that way when I graduated and started the trainee program. But learning new things is part of the process of being a consultant.
