Fast-forward to the future

Nothing will ever be the same

The post-COVID world will be unlike anything we know and it’s time to prepare for the new normal. That’s why the Capgemini Research Institute is releasing a series of research notes with pragmatic guidance on how organizations can take action on the things that matter in the wake of COVID-19.

In our previous research note on purpose-driven organizations, we discovered that consumers expect organizations to play an active role in creating a better world. This time, in Fast-Forward to the Future: Defining and winning the post-COVID New Normal we wanted to understand what lies ahead – from the future of work to emerging business models. To these ends, we surveyed more than 1,000 senior executives around the world and across sectors.

We found that while the pandemic has profoundly disrupted businesses globally, it has also paved the way for transformation initiatives. Importantly, technology will be at the heart of these initiatives, spurring the three trends that will define the new normal: the near ubiquity of remote working, a digitization and automation boom, and recast production and supplier networks. COVID casts a long shadow, and heralds turbulent times for many. That’s why organizations should take this opportunity to make changes that will help them weather this storm and succeed in the new normal.

As we navigate this unprecedented crisis together, we hope that these research notes offer compelling insight into the new normal in a post-COVID world. In the next edition, we will look at How COVID-19 has shifted consumer health behaviors and attitudes. Until then, be well and focus on what matters to you.
