As a (Cyber)security Research Scientist you will:

  • Work actively with the other scientists on identifying novel interesting research security problems, investigating them, and providing theoretically sound and practically validated solutions;
  • Participate actively in finding new practical research ideas and then transforming them into real innovative projects, patents, or research papers;
  • Assist in writing research (EU/PT) proposals, and participate in accepted ones as researcher and leader;
  • Mentor research engineers and supervise masters/PhD thesis;
  • Stay informed on the state-of-the-art of security-related topics and cross-cutting areas like IoT, automotive, wireless networks, embedded systems, clouds, fog, Blockchain, distributed systems, Cyber-physical systems, UxVs, etc.;
  • Interact with both internal and external partners and customers to address research challenges and drive breakthrough projects into successful prototypes.

VORTEX-CoLab is looking for an exceptional full-time (CDI) Security or Cybersecurity Research Scientist with a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Telecommunications Engineering that meets the following requirements:

  • Doctoral or post-doctoral research experience with an international-quality publication record in any security-related area: Security, Cyberecurity, Cryptography, Privacy, Blockchain;
  • Hands-on experience in any of the following: Linux environment, IoT, Automotive, Android, RTOS, Cyber-physical, Embedded, or Distributed Systems;
  • Open to fundamental and applied research on novel topics related to security;
  • A thirst to stay ahead of the latest trends makes you a strong participant in relevant scientific publications and patents;
  • Good English communication skills (writing, speaking, and reading);
  • Nice to have but not required: experience in penetration testing, ethical hacking, reverse engineering, threat modeling, or risk analysis on networked systems.
