Tell me about your role. What does a day in your life at Capgemini look like?

My role concentrates on both the PMO side and the demand-to-supply side. Usually, I do a lot of the project management stuff for about six different projects. I get to interact with engagement managers on these projects, help them deliver for the client. I build out reports, do a lot on Power BI to make sure that our consultants are getting all the hours into our system and invoicing the client. I get to interact a lot of the times with clients, which I really love, and I get to see their point of view, what they’re trying to do for their companies. And then I try to make sure that we’re going through the trajectory needed to complete projects for them.

What do you love about being a consultant?

I think it comes down to interacting with people. I get to talk to different people, ask them what they’re doing. Every conversation that I have, I get to learn a little bit more about them.

And that just amazes me, because people come from different cultures and that’s one of the things that I really love about Capgemini, not only internally, but about clients: they’re diverse. They come from all over the world. I enjoy learning more about what their purpose is, their culture, and just getting to interact with people in general. That’s what I love about my job.

How does Capgemini empower you to master your skills as a consultant?

Capgemini provides a lot of opportunities, and I take advantage of them whenever I can. I have completed two Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprises (SAFE) certifications which allows me to set up how I interact with the customer, and our employees. I think these certifications that Capgemini offers are essential for us as a group to make sure that we are at the top of our game.

What do you love about Capgemini?

The people. Everyone is very approachable, so I feel like I can always reach out to someone and learn from them. I have made many friends here, and I love that I can have fun at work.

What is one of the most memorable moments in your Capgemini journey?

I am an active member of our HOLA Employee Resource Group. I lead our events in our Houston office. We did an event, in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, at the Houston Food Bank where we volunteered to pack boxes for families. I love the relationships I have built within HOLA, but also the fact that we can do that while contributing to our community. I love that Capgemini cares about giving back and making an impact. I hope to create more memories like that with Capgemini.

What advice would you give to someone joining Capgemini?

The advice I would give is to get involved. ERGs are a phenomenal way of meeting people, learning new things, and finding opportunities for growth. Ultimately, the connections you make will help further your career.
