More than 65 members from our A3 and CARES employee resource groups (ERGs) volunteered their time to local charities in their city to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the MLK Day of Service. Lauren Sanne, Capgemini’s North America Digital Inclusion Manager, said “What better way to honor Dr. King than by using our skills in the community to empower the next generation?” As a global leader in digital, Capgemini’s ambition is to help make the digital revolution an opportunity for all and to provide a bridge between technology and society.

Our members in Bridgewater, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, New York City, San Francisco, and Houston volunteered time to their local Junior Achievement (JA) chapters. JA is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan their futures, and make smart academic and economic choices.

Denver

Danielle Jackson, National Co-Lead for A3, our African & African American-focused ERG, “was thrilled by Capgemini’s support of this initiative to commemorate the work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through making a positive impact.”

Teams hosted students in our offices for a day of job shadowing or visited a local school or finance park. Volunteers connected with these young, future leaders and shared insights on career preparedness and entrepreneurialism. Students were encouraged to engage in solving real-world problems and participate in panel discussions. Over 400 students participated in our day of digital inclusion.

Carol Sharrouf, Associate Director, Programs from Junior Achievement of New York recalls, “Capgemini’s JA job shadow was a great example of how to expose high school students to careers they might otherwise not know about in the corporate world. Evoking Martin Luther King Jr.’s values of equality, education, and leadership, the coaches at Capgemini put together a full day of critical and creative thinking, innovation, and inspirational messages. We’re thankful for the opportunity to partner together and look forward to future events!”

Houston

In Atlanta, our members supported Hosea Helps’ efforts to feed the hungry. A team sorted and organized clothing and set up their annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Dinner at the Georgia World Congress Center. Another team prepared and delivered 98 boxed meals to senior citizens in high-rise communities and homeless shelters around the Atlanta metro area.

“I’m very proud of what our employees are doing to make an impact in our communities. Our 2020 MLK service projects are an excellent example of how we can successfully engage at the intersection of diversity and digital inclusion. I’m excited to evolve these types of efforts this year across our Corporate Social Responsibility program.”

– Janet Pope, North America Corporate Social Responsibility Director

It is Capgemini’s ambition to grow our impact by engaging our workforce to make a difference for future generations for years to come.
