"Believe in yourself, anything is possible... it is a matter of time."

Tell us about your role. What does a day in your life at Capgemini look like?

As the Digital Lead for Capgemini Financial Services, my role is like a conductor orchestrating a concert. I bring different teams together to harness digital innovation with our clients – be it with external customers like alliance partners, fintech, to internal teams like solution architects, delivery, account executives, practices and advisory. I work with all of them to bring solutions to our clients. There is a lot of selling involved, as it is also my job to articulate the various products and solutions, including value propositions.

There is never a dull moment for me, as everyone brings different value propositions. I love the diversity and challenges that come my way. My regular day looks something like this – I list my tasks to be completed for the day, followed by various discussions with our alliance partners and account executives on how we can drive digital transformation with clients, how we can help clients modernize their legacy systems and enhance their customer experiences. Additionally, I also work on the go-to market strategies, strategic marketing campaigns, identify business opportunities and share Capgemini capabilities, industry trends and best practices with clients.

Overtime I have learnt to be more strategic in decision making and time management. A productive day is when I manage to clear what I set out to accomplish in the morning.

What’s the best thing about working at Capgemini?

I like that Capgemini is a global and modern organization with great resources and support to nurture our career growth. Capgemini actively promotes upskilling to make sure there’s scope for every individual to grow in their career. It is also a great place for women to bring excellence in their careers while maintaining a good work-life balance.

I am lucky to have leaders who are supportive, understanding, trusting and empathic. As a member of the team, they encourage me to be bold, creative and innovative.

What makes you proud to work at Capgemini?

I like that Capgemini is advocating the new world of work and creating positive change through their activities in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Diversity and Inclusions (D&I) − be it environmental, philanthropic, economic, ethical, gender biases, and eliminating discrimination. I am proud to be a part of the organization.

How are you working towards the future you want?

With any role, I like to envisage my short to long term goals. From there I set out milestones for myself. It could be getting up to speed with my role, to how I can exceed expectations; I constantly gain insight and experiences through keeping abreast of latest trends, reading, discussions with industry peers to enrolling in courses to equip myself with the knowledge. I always work on improving skills and weaknesses to make me successful, including reaching out to my leaders for guidance when needed. Finally, drawing up a development plan with my immediate supervisor comes in handy as it helps to steer me in the right direction.

What advice would you give to someone joining Capgemini?

Capgemini is truly a global organization that empowers its employees to succeed. They have great tools and resources in place to support career growth. They also promote upskilling to ensure we learn and develop new skills as we progress with the organization, whilst maintaining a good work life balance. It is a great place to work.

What is your motto? What would you share with women who aspire to progress in career like yours?

My motto is – “Be open and be fearless.” Fear is only as deep as the mind allows. Be ready to take that leap of faith / risk when an opportunity comes your way.
