Tell us about your role. What does a day in your life at Capgemini look like?
In my role as a Cloud Solution Architect, I partner and collaborate with customers in multiple domains. I currently work in the Digital Manufacturing domain to help bring value and solve problems through technical leadership. On an average day I code, architect, design cloud solutions for my customers, lead a team of developers, and often have the final say over the tools and platforms we use.
What’s the best thing about working at Capgemini?
Working with intelligent, like-minded people on exciting and challenging projects is fantastic and that wouldn’t be possible without the right culture.
I am passionate about community-building and knowledge-sharing, and working for Capgemini has boosted this passion to new heights. Teaching aspiring Architects and young professionals the latest technologies to have them as a deployable resource for the clients is really helping to build my community-building passion.
What makes you proud to work at Capgemini?
I’m proud of the leadership attitude we have at Capgemini. Our leaders are very knowledgeable about emerging technologies and trends. They are always open to new ideas and innovative ways of working and are very supportive when you need to learn new skills.
How are you working towards the future you want?
Capgemini is a very empowering and enabling organization. In terms of my goals, I’m working as a Cloud Solution Architect, so I deal with Microsoft and KW, but my aspiration is to have expertise in all the major cloud solution vendors. I have mentors with me that help provide access to academics from different vendor partners and there are plenty of opportunities created for me to learn. In fact, my mentor has already nominated me for training in levels two and three Architect certification. I have been given a subscription to one of the best third-party learning platforms for free, as well as training from Microsoft and AWS. I’m being supported across the board when it comes to developing myself and preparing for my future.
What advice would you give to someone joining Capgemini?
Firstly, be confident in presenting your opinion on any subject you are dealing with. Don’t worry if you’re right or wrong. If you’re right, you will contribute to the subject and if you’re wrong it is not frowned upon at Capgemini, it just means you’re learning. So, in both cases it’s a win-win situation.
Secondly, and most importantly, start translating your thoughts and ideas into tangible actions. Express yourself and let your actions speak for you. Believe me this will double up your working experience at Capgemini and will lead you to great heights in the organization.
How do you think Capgemini’s support has been since the pandemic began?
My family and I have been given full support. We were helped with getting vaccinated and supported with our mental health, so I can rest assured that if something terrible were to happen, I have my company, Capgemini behind me.
We get constant emails from the leadership and the managers, have a weekly catch-up where we not only talk about how project work is going, but also how everyone’s health is and the rest of their lives.
I got COVID-infected in March and Capgemini was very supportive. My manager really encouraged me to take leave and asked me to take rest. He said not to worry about anything and to just focus on health. I also got the COVID leave through company policy, so there was no mental strain at all.
In Mumbai, where I’m from, the vaccine was started well before the registration process was released, and it’s been a seamless process, so Capgemini has really been helpful in every way during this pandemic.
