“During my first year at Invent, I have developed my consulting skills at record pace by working on challenging projects with very different objectives and goals”

I joined Capgemini Invent in August 2019 after graduating from The Royal Institute of Technology with a Masters in Industrial Engineering and Management. During my first year at Invent I have developed my consulting skills at record pace by working on challenging projects with very different objectives and goals. Projects ranging from developing AI models for increased efficiency to transforming IT landscapes, and developing expansion strategies. The wide variety of client and project work at Invent really entails complex problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity.

I belong to the Corporate Experience team within our Enterprise Transformation capability unit, where we specialize in helping clients improve their businesses through cost optimization and process efficiency.

What made you decide to apply to and join Capgemini Invent?

I chose to start my career at Invent because I enjoy problem-solving and wanted to work in an environment that enables constant development through a variety of projects and challenges. Another main reason for joining Invent, is having the opportunity to help businesses improve their performance and grow by implementing new ways of working and shaping the business of tomorrow. What I think really stood out, and made me choose Invent, are the people and company culture. As work can be intense, the collaborative mindset and positive attitude amongst my colleagues is truly inspiring!

Tell us about your role at Capgemini Invent?

My main day-to-day work is to successfully deliver the objectives in our client projects. As a consultant, I have often been staffed on projects as a business analyst meaning my core responsibility is to conduct analysis and bring insights to projects. This can be through desktop analysis or interviews with key stakeholders within a client’s organization.

Apart from client work, I have internal roles and assignments. This can include supporting proposal work and creating internal material for my capability unit. I also belong to our employer branding team where we promote Capgemini Invent among university students by hosting events and participating in career fairs. Finally, I engage in pro-bono work as I’m aligned to our pro-bono team named Invent Impact. We have a collaboration with start-up incubator Norrsken and our pro-bono team support by holding workshops and delivering shorter projects.

Tell us about the Business & Analysis Group (BAG) and your role?

I am part of the employer branding team where we promote Invent to university students, looking for new talented colleagues. This we do through different activities such as hosting events, participating in lunch lectures, and career fairs at universities. Tasks can range from planning and creating content for events and lunch lectures, to representing Capgemini Invent at career fairs.

What characterizes the people and culture at Capgemini Invent?

I find the people at Invent to be both smart and hard-working, but also very helpful and positive. I would say Invent is characterized by a high-performance culture where people are very driven and result-oriented, but there is also an emphasis on work-life balance. There is a lot of support for personal development and many opportunities to grow within the company, though everyone has their own responsibility to reach their full potential. Most importantly, I find my colleagues fun, genuine, and inclusive.

What is your best advice for a student who dreams of starting a career at Capgemini Invent?

Sign up to join one of our student events and get to know our consultants and company. Contacts are important and attending an event is not only a good way for students to get to know us, it is also a way for students to gain visibility and increase their chances in our recruitment process.
