Consumer interest in social networks, driven by increasing consumer desire for multi-way communication and collaboration has risen in recent years. Several telcos have ventured into social networking, but there are challenges including competition from established social networks, as well as benefits such as new revenue streams with this proposition.

Capgemini’s analysis indicates that online social networking is not attractive for telcos and that the nascent mobile social networking space is where the real opportunity lies.
