To traditional IT staff used to focusing on computers and their interconnections the shift towards people and communications employing a wide variety of devices of all types, as well as new types of services and functionality, is a new topic even though most of them will be using some of the devices and capabilities themselves. Unified Communications and Unified Messaging, the technologies that focus on providing a cohesive environment for people oriented services across this environment, is the topic for this month’s edition of the Technology Brief, together with the usual round up of news from across the industry.
