Competition from FinTechs and BigTechs is beginning to aggressively eat into incumbents’ market share and banks need to respond with a renewed strategy that is digital, agile, inclusive, and efficient. Survivors will be those that quickly decide their new role within the broader banking ecosystem — service supplier, aggregator, orchestrator or remaining a traditional integrator.
Incumbents need to harness the right technology and build on their leading asset, customer trust, to stay ahead of the competition. As we move toward the 2025 horizon for banking, we expect the industry to finally answer the question “Will incumbents figure out innovation before the disruptors get hold of the distribution?”
