realizing a longstanding dream, in which selfdriving cars travel without interruption on public roads, carrying their passengers in comfort and safety to their destinations.<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-cg-blocks-group undefined section section--article-content\"><div class=\"article-main-content\"><div class=\"container\"><div class=\"row\"><div class=\"col-12 col-md-11 col-lg-10 offset-md-1 offset-lg-1\"><div class=\"article-text article-quote-text\">\n<p>There have been great strides towards this new reality. Many automotive companies are already embedding software with varying levels of autonomous capability into their vehicles, although only a handful currently have made such features accessible to the driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Progress towards this end is not necessarily slowed by the availability of the technology used in autonomous cars \u2013 it\u2019s already in many cars currently on the road \u2013 but more significantly by the regulation and interoperability of the technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s well known that some companies that have made autonomous driving functionality accessible have run into serious trouble, with injuries and even fatalities among drivers and pedestrians.
