Capgemini’s Chicago community hosted a panel discussion on the topic of “Women at the Forefront of Digital Innovation” on February 23 with participants from leading local companies. Sponsored by the Terry Newsome and John Kenwood from the North America CPRD business division, the idea for the session was to generate interactions among our colleagues, partners and local business leaders on this important topic.

Panel of Speakers

  • Cyndi Fulk Lago, VP, Capgemini
  • Diane Brown, Director, IT Risk Management, Ulta Beauty
  • Jennifer Cyra, Founder & Principal, Cynamen Advisors
  • Maryann Byrdak, CIO, Potbelly
  • Robin Hamerlinck, CIO, Shure
  • Sue Domenick Smolenski, Senior Director of Omni Channel Marketing, True Value Company

The event was moderated by Capgemini’s Krystianne Avedian from our Accelerated Solutions Environment (ASE) team. The panelists provided great insight on what digital innovation means for their organizations and how they have been impacted by digital disruptions. The discussion also covered how they are leading their organizations to adopt new strategies to transform to meet their customers’ needs in 2020 and beyond.

The panelists also spoke about their personal experiences and the impact that digital has played in their lives. One discussion thread covered how digital enablement can impact diversity in the workplace; as an example, a working mother could gain flexibility with her schedule and childcare if digitally-enabled and connected no matter where she was working—a concept labeled as being a “digital nomad”.

The panelists each shared how important mentors have been in their own career progression. They also offered advice for other women who aspire to be leaders in technology and innovation.

With over 60 attendees, the event was extremely well received and appreciated by all of the attendees.
