I admit that I learned all of this at Capgemini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\"><strong>How?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">On one hand, you have access to training that addresses your real needs, technical or soft. On the other hand, you have brilliant people around you, and you learn a massive amount from them. And finally, you have access to projects where you can apply all of this in practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\"><strong>How did your adventure with Capgemini begin?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">My IT adventure started 10 years ago. For all that time, I worked freelance, mainly with foreign companies. Eventually, I started looking harder for a more stable option, and a mate recommended Capgemini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\"><strong>What arguments did he use?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">He specifically praised the peace, the great atmosphere, and the challenging, yet fulfilling tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\"><strong>Was he right?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">Spot on. I would add supportive bosses, an environment very open to learning, and something I deeply value &#8211; psychological comfort. After several years, I wanted to mentally rest from chasing social security payments, taxes, and settlements with the tax office. I wanted someone to support my growth in the long run, and that is exactly what\u2019s happening. It\u2019s also significant that the firm has no technical debt. In projects, we use the latest AI or ML solutions and work in various languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\"><strong>Speaking of tech, describe your current project.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">I\u2019m working for a client in the financial sector, developing an internal app for handling job candidates. Nominally, I\u2019m a Fullstack, but in this project, I mainly handle the front-end. My favourite toy is React, I\u2019ve been working with it for 8 years. Previously, I worked in Java\/TypeScript or PHP. I don&#8217;t care for Java, though. I really don&#8217;t want to work in it, which is why I currently don&#8217;t touch the back-end. In that area, I prefer NodeJS, but I&#8217;m not using it in this specific project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\"><strong>What\u2019s particularly interesting about this project from a tech perspective?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">The architecture. We are building a totally new structure based on micro-frontends. It\u2019s a clever solution because the whole site is divided into smaller, independent services. If, for example, the bottom menu &#8220;crashes,&#8221; the rest still works. Thanks to this, other projects can use our modules in the future without rewriting everything from scratch.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">I\u2019m also a security maniac. I love tasks where I have to secure the app so no one can penetrate it, and an authenticated user only downloads the data they are supposed to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\"><strong>You mentioned earlier that strategic thinking is crucial. What\u2019s that about?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">A programmer can&#8217;t just think about the current task. You have to approach things strategically, creating high-quality code without chaos, complying with the DRY (Don\u2019t Repeat Yourself) principle. Basically, thinking about whether this code will be helpful in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\"><strong>Does that fit the stereotype of the IT guy who just &#8220;does his bit&#8221; without deeper reflection?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">That stereotype comes from the fact that we need time to focus, which can give the impression that we are loners. In my daily work, I set &#8220;Do not disturb&#8221; blocks as well, but I need that time to conduct practical talks with other experts and explain technical complexities to the client, or simply put: to do a good job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\"><strong>What have you learned as an expert at Capgemini?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">I never closed myself off to one stack, but here I really expanded technically. I develop micro-frontends, work with databases, keep an eye on cybersecurity, earned an AWS<strong> <\/strong>certificate<strong> <\/strong>in<strong> <\/strong>AI<strong>\/<\/strong>ML, and I\u2019m gunning for another one in MongoDB. I work in React, and luckily, no one forces me into Java (laughs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\"><strong>And non-technically?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">My soft skills skyrocketed. I really had major resistance to communicating openly, and today I work in an international project and lead a team. For me, it was a huge step out of my comfort zone, and feeling that I am in a safe environment is absolutely key. Here, I feel at home. Analytical thinking is common to both. On the guitar, place a finger wrong, and you ruin the whole fragment of the track. While playing, you have to think about how you\u2019ll position your hand in a moment. It\u2019s the same with lines of code!
