Where did it all start?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">Back in 2016, I was working for a small company that suddenly hit financial rocks. Naturally, I started looking for safer ground. A friend recommended Capgemini &#8211; already a well-known brand with a solid market position. The real sign of their business maturity was that they offered a permanent employment contract, which was a total &#8220;unicorn&#8221; on the market back then. So, I applied for a Junior Software Engineer role, and that\u2019s how the ball started rolling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\"><strong>And what came next? Your path to your current position was long and winding, wasn&#8217;t it?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">It was, but fascinating too. First, I landed in a massive financial project, developing as a Fullstack dev for over a year. Then came a life revolution, typical for women &#8211; I became a mother. I had three children, which meant a five-year professional hiatus. I returned with doubled strength and a hunger for knowledge. I wanted to catch up on five years of tech evolution fast. That was the exact moment when market interest in AI exploded, and key technologies started shifting gears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\"><strong>How did you handle that &#8220;technical debt&#8221;? Did the firm help?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">I studied constantly, and it paid off big time! My managers helped me pick the right courses and training, as well as developmental projects. As a result, I sprinted from a Regular to a Senior Software Consultant in just three years. Daily, I\u2019m a Fullstack Developer, though my heart beats faster for the front-end because I love the instant gratification of seeing the results of my work. Tech-wise, I work in Java and Angular. Each one is a separate, often intriguing technical and organizational challenge. You have to be well-organized, think on your feet, and anticipate issues &#8211; after all, the client&#8217;s business hangs in the balance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\"><strong>Who carries the can when things go wrong?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">At Capgemini, there is no finger-pointing. We are a genuinely tight-knit team. Sure, if something goes pear-shaped on deployment, emotions run high, but we have on-call weekends to react instantly. We work for shared success; this isn&#8217;t an organization where people sweep bug reports under the rug to make someone else\u2019s life difficult. I really like and respect that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\"><strong>What makes someone good at a role like yours?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">Three things: multitasking, constant motivation to learn, and people skills. The idea that in IT you just sit at a computer and do &#8220;your bit&#8221; is a myth. We are technical experts as well as consultants, which means we must be patient and effective communicators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\"><strong>How does the myth of a &#8220;geek in a flannel shirt&#8221; hold up at Capgemini?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">Geeks in flannel shirts is a stereotypical approach; today, we know it\u2019s often a matter of neurodiversity. Some people simply prefer that working style. At Capgemini, there is undoubtedly a lot of openness and respect for that. However, I want to stress that without communication skills, even brilliant technical experts eventually hit a wall. They can&#8217;t &#8220;pitch&#8221; themselves or their knowledge, hurting their careers long-term. And they try to work as if they weren&#8217;t mothers, and be mothers as if they didn&#8217;t work. It depends on the manager and the project, of course, but this year, for example, I went away with my family for three weeks, plus I worked remotely for another week on a so-called &#8220;workation&#8221;.
