The flexibility of a hybrid work environment allows me the liberty to work from home on some days and on others \u2013 either from my Capgemini office or at my client site. I am usually the kind of decision maker who plays circumstances by the ear and if my team is going in, I will make it a point to work from office on that day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I usually follow the same schedule whether at home, in office, or onsite. I rise at 7 in the morning and get myself prepped for the day, before starting work at 9 am. When going onsite, there\u2019s never a dull moment starting with a bus into Melbourne city. Enroute to my work desk, I always grab a hot chocolate at our office caf\u00e9 and chat with some colleagues for a few minutes as a morning catch-up. Then, around 12:30 pm, I head to our communal area, whose stunning view and the fact that there is always someone around to talk to, never makes lunch dull or boring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I wind up my workday by 5:30 or 6 pm with a promise to go to my local park afterwork to play some basketball. Since I do like some shoot around and the friendly competition that a game of pick-up always promises. I am thankful for the daylight saving in Melbourne which allows for a bit of extra sunlight. On Fridays, however, the afterwork plans are slightly different. The evening lull takes us down to the nearest bar where we catchup for an hour or so, telling each other the week\u2019s stories. The day then comes to a close with some evening chores before a good night\u2019s sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-encouraged-you-to-pursue-a-career-with-capgemini-engineering-and-how-has-your-experience-been-so-far\">What encouraged you to pursue a career with Capgemini Engineering and how has your experience been so far?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A simple answer would be the very idea of having the opportunity to build Capgemini Engineering as a branch of business in Australia. I came onboard in July 2021, and many may not know this but, I was the first ever Capgemini Engineering graduate in the Australia &amp; New Zealand office. A title no one else can have, but one that affords me a sense of pride because I have seen us grow from early conceptualisation in our infancy to now, an ever-growing GBL with expansion on the horizon. I chose Capgemini Engineering because it opens the doors that a global enterprise like Capgemini can offer. The area of consultancy allows flexible options and various opportunities to find and mold oneself to what one wants to do. My aim was to maximise my mechanical engineering background with a business and management-oriented mindset. I found my perfect fit in Capgemini Engineering, where my role is a blend of technical application and design skillsets along with project and people management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-as-a-young-professional-how-important-do-you-think-is-bridging-the-physical-and-digital-worlds\">As a young professional, how important, do you think is bridging the Physical and Digital Worlds?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Hugely important. As one of the contributors in a team or project, utilising your physical presence onsite is just as important as working remotely. It is important for your colleagues, clients, and managers to know who you are as a person. Who are you? What are your strengths and weaknesses? What do you bring to the table and what are the areas you would like to learn about. Sometimes, it is not as easy to grasp everything on camera at home as it would be in person onsite. Additionally, being around your team is important to build camaraderie and trust amongst your colleagues. It is also an opportunity for networking and socialising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Working from home is also equally important because long commuting hours and\/or juggling a complicated home life can make working onsite a little difficult sometimes. Enabling yourself to find that balance between onsite presence and working on your tasks at home comes down to a discussion with your manager(s) at Capgemini. I am grateful that Capgemini Engineering has also embraced this as it continues to support us as employees to find the balance that works for us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-does-get-the-future-you-want-mean-to-you\">What does \u201cGet The Future You Want\u201d mean to you?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You drive your destiny. For me, it paints the picture of throwing yourself into the pool of choice and swimming in the direction you want. I, as an employee, have the choice to identify, voice, and plan the direction I wish to take at Capgemini, which my leaders are listening to and can accommodate on ventures that we have available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Many thanks, Saurav for sharing your experiences and wisdom with us.
