Ed&#8217;s typical workday includes resource management, reporting, facilitating key meetings, and onboarding new starters onto projects. He is also actively involved in business development for the Public Sector team and serves as an ambassador for the Global Invent Transport community, promoting global collaboration on bids and ongoing projects. Read on to discover how Ed is rewriting his future!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-walk-us-through-a-typical-workday-at-capgemini-what-are-the-key-tasks-and-projects-you-focus-on\">Walk us through a typical workday at Capgemini. What are the key tasks and projects you focus on?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A typical workday varies depending on the day of the week and which office I\u2019m working from. Currently, I\u2019m in a Business Analyst (Project Management Office- PMO) role for a client, so I often work out of their office. I try to schedule most of my client meetings when I\u2019m onsite, as I find it enhances collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My main tasks revolve around resource management and reporting within project management. My days can look quite different\u2014some days I\u2019m facilitating key meetings between the client, our team, and other stakeholders, recording actions and tracking updates, or inducting large groups of new starters onto the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Capgemini, I also like to get involved in business development for the Public Sector team when capacity allows. One of the most exciting initiatives I\u2019ve been part of is serving as an ambassador for our Global Invent Transport community. In this role, I facilitate calls with transport leads from different countries, encouraging collaboration on bids and ongoing projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outside of work, I love getting involved in our monthly team socials\u2014it\u2019s always great to connect with colleagues in a more relaxed setting. As an Associate Consultant, no two days are ever the same, which keeps things exciting!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-advice-would-you-give-to-someone-considering-a-career-at-capgemini-as-a-graduate-what-skills-and-experiences-would-be-a-good-fit\">What advice would you give to someone considering a career at Capgemini as a graduate? What skills and experiences would be a good fit?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>I firmly believe there\u2019s a place for everyone in consulting. As someone who studied Law but didn\u2019t necessarily see themselves following that career path, I found consulting to be a great fit. It\u2019s perfect for people who enjoy problem-solving and want exposure to a variety of clients and industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the experiences that helped me along the way included volunteering at university\u2014whether through the student union, societies, or student consulting clubs\u2014as well as part-time work in professional services. I\u2019d strongly encourage students to get involved in university volunteering that aligns with their interests and career goals, and to gain relevant work experience where possible. Consulting clubs, in particular, can be a great way to get a feel for the industry and develop skills you can showcase during the recruitment process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That said, the most important thing is how you approach challenges and problem-solving, especially in interviews. Since consulting isn\u2019t something you study directly, a lot comes down to your ability to think on your feet, tackle challenges, and maintain a growth mindset\u2014you\u2019re always learning!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-excites-you-most-about-being-a-graduate-at-capgemini-what-challenges-keep-you-engaged-what-do-you-envision-for-the-future\">What excites you most about being a graduate at Capgemini? What challenges keep you engaged? What do you envision for the future?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most exciting things about being an Associate Consultant at Capgemini is the sheer variety of work available, both in projects and internal initiatives. Given Capgemini\u2019s size and global presence, you have the freedom to shape your own career\u2014and you\u2019re encouraged to do so!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the project side, managing client relationships, juggling competing responsibilities, and leading meetings have all helped me step outside my comfort zone. Fortunately, I\u2019ve had strong support from senior leaders throughout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking ahead, I hope to become a subject matter expert within a particular capability or sub-sector of the public sector. I\u2019m still working out exactly what that may be\u2014watch this space!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-can-you-share-your-career-journey-as-a-graduate-what-key-experiences-shaped-your-expertise-and-led-you-to-capgemini-what-were-you-doing-before\">Can you share your career journey as a graduate? What key experiences shaped your expertise and led you to Capgemini? What were you doing before?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>I studied a double degree in Global Studies (International Relations) and Law (LLB). Throughout my studies, I took on both volunteer and paid roles to prepare for the job market. I held a variety of positions, including working as a Law Clerk at a commercial firm, serving as Treasurer for one of the largest student societies, volunteering as a student consultant for NGOs, and even being part of my university\u2019s student union. Safe to say, I explored a lot of different opportunities!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I knew I didn\u2019t want to follow the traditional path of a law graduate\u2014I was looking for a career that was less rigid but still allowed me to use my critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a variety of work. That\u2019s what led me to apply for the Capgemini graduate program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I also spent a year abroad in Sweden during my degree, which reinforced my desire to work in a global organisation. That experience played a big part in my decision to join Capgemini, where I could collaborate with teams around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-does-your-work-at-capgemini-contribute-to-achieving-the-mission-of-get-the-future-you-want-both-for-yourself-and-our-clients\">How does your work at Capgemini contribute to achieving the mission of &#8216;Get The Future You Want,&#8217; both for yourself and our clients?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>For me, \u2018Get The Future You Want\u2019 is all about taking ownership of your career and being open to opportunities. At Capgemini, I\u2019ve been able to explore different areas of consulting, develop my PMO expertise, and get involved in global initiatives like the Transport community. The flexibility to shape my own path and work across various industries has been invaluable in helping me figure out where I want to go next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For our clients, my work plays a role in ensuring smooth project delivery\u2014whether that\u2019s through facilitating collaboration, managing key project operations, or helping onboard new team members.
