The implementation of SAP S/4 HANA aims to modernize and streamline Teksid’s systems and functions as part of its digital manufacturing transformation vision

São Paulo, 22 0ctober 2020 – Capgemini in Brazil has completed an SAP S/4 HANA implementation for Teksid, one of the largest automobile parts groups in the world, to modernize its Brazilian manufacturing plant’s technological systems and functions. With the introduction of SAP S/4HANA, Teksid is investing in innovation and taking a big step towards realizing its digital manufacturing vision.

Teksid identified a need for a new ERP (enterprise resource planning) platform throughout its Brazilian manufacturing plant. Though the company had experienced success with its existing processes, the new challenges dictated by the launch of a new aluminum production line, the multiplicity of customers to be managed in the local region, and growing product complexities, led the company to seek something new.

Following an internal review, Teksid settled upon the SAP S/4HANA platform as its solution of choice. To ensure that it had the appropriate support to enable a successful transformation journey, Teksid partnered with Capgemini to roll out the SAP platform transformation project.

“Initially, we conducted market studies with some business cases and we understood from those that Capgemini would be able to support us in this transformation project. Plus, as Capgemini is recognized as a leader for successful implementations of the SAP S/4 HANA platform, the choice was natural,” said Wellington Coelho, Chief Information Officer for Teksid Brasil.

The teams quickly agreed upon a strategy that would execute the transformation within an aggressive one-year timeline, while ensuring that Teksid had plenty of opportunities to prepare for the change. During the initial preparation stage, Teksid and Capgemini planned out a detailed transformation roadmap which involved a review of the existing infrastructure within Teksid’s Brazilian plant and the organization of a workshop series that would bring together experts from both organizations to discuss the upcoming changes.

“We recognized the difficulty that we had in gaining visibility of all of our processes, which were extremely fragmented, and we needed a new approach to solve this. Once we migrated our 35-year legacy mainframe to SAP, the platform created a standardization of our processes,” continued Coelho.

As a result of this project with Capgemini, Teksid has fully realized its initial objectives. SAP S/4HANA helped execute widespread information rationalization that cleansed redundant data from the system and made it easier to achieve full compliance. Finally, the transformation simplified and standardized ways of working throughout Teksid’s manufacturing plant in Brazil, while additionally simplifying the organization’s application landscape.

Teksid and Capgemini will now collaborate to develop and support new applications enabled by the SAP S/4HANA platform. Together, the organizations will continue to pursue a future based on innovation and a drive for leadership.

“This new set up has enabled more reliable information that leads to faster business decisions and reduced time-to-market, which frees up the Teksid team to focus on their business. These results are also a testament of how well our teams have worked together,” said Giulio Salomone, Vice President for Industries and Telecom for Capgemini in Brazil.
