Dat is inderdaad een enorme klus, zegt Ruchita Trisal, lead consultant en technical architect. Haar tip: zie het als een reeks van kleine klusjes die je achter elkaar uitvoert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-het-hele-alfabet\">Het hele alfabet<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Je kent vast de uitspraak dat het niet gaat om de bestemming, maar om de weg ernaartoe. Die weg, dat is waar ik mijn werkplezier uit haal. SAP-migraties, zeker voor grote organisaties, zijn complexe projecten. We hebben hierbij scherp voor ogen we waar we naartoe willen. Maar om van A naar Z te komen, moet je alle letters langs. Ik geniet ervan om dat heel zorgvuldig te doen. Als je elke kleine stap met aandacht zet, komen de grote mijlpalen vanzelf voorbij.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Ik vind dat niet alleen leuk om te doen, het is ook de essentie van mijn werk als SAP solution architect. Het is aan mij om klanten met de juiste aanpak de beste oplossing te bieden. In mijn ogen is dit de best passende manier.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-migratie-in-twee-fasen\">Migratie in twee fasen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Mijn eerste stappen als SAP-specialist zette ik in 2012. In India, waar ik vandaan kom, werkte ik toen als SAP Basis consultant bij een groot organisatieadviesbureau. Het was een tijd waarin ik vooral zo veel mogelijk kennis en ervaring wilde opdoen. Drie jaar later stapte ik over naar Capgemini, eerst in India, waar ik aan de slag ging als SAP consultant en technical lead.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Sinds 2018 werk ik bij Capgemini in Nederland, de laatste jaren als senior SAP Basis lead consultant en architect. Een van mijn grootste klanten is Maxeda, de holding achter doe-het-zelfzaken als Praxis in Nederland en Brico in Belgi\u00eb. Ik werkte al voor hen vanuit India, in een support-rol. Met mijn toenmalige team was ik verantwoordelijk voor updates en optimale beschikbaarheid van de systemen.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018In Nederland ben ik technical lead van een projectteam van vijftig mensen met wie ik Maxeda heb ondersteund bij de migratie van een legacy ERP-systeem naar S\/4HANA. Recent hebben we ook de tweede fase uitgevoerd: een upgrade van SAP en een overgang van onze datacenters naar de Public Cloud van Google.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-stap-voor-stap\">Stap voor stap<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Maxeda gebruikt SAP al decennialang. Ze hadden het al voordat ik was geboren! Intussen is het bedrijf enorm gegroeid. Dus het werd tijd om de systemen op die ontwikkeling aan te passen en over te stappen naar de meer geavanceerde oplossingen die SAP nu biedt.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Maar voor zo\u2019n grote onderneming, met zo veel toeleveranciers en met alle legacy die je als bedrijf in tientallen jaren opbouwt, is een transformatie als deze niet van de ene op de andere dag geregeld. En dan is de retailsector ook nog eens heel dynamisch; om elke hoek wachten nieuwe uitdagingen. Dus komt het aan op de zorgvuldige aanpak waarover ik het net had. Stap voor stap gaan we samen met de klant die nieuwe wereld in.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bouwen-op-collega-s\">Bouwen op collega\u2019s<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Dat is heel intensief. Iedereen staat continu op scherp, zowel aan klantzijde als aan onze kant. Er zijn elke dag \u2013 en nacht \u2013 nieuwe vragen om te beantwoorden, nieuwe kwesties om op te lossen, nieuwe functionaliteiten om te ontwikkelen. Pittig, ja. Maar eerlijk gezegd is dit hoe ik het liefste werk. Onder druk presteer ik het best.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Daarbij komt dat ik kan bouwen op de enorme berg kennis en ervaring die we bij Capgemini in huis hebben. Als architect kijk ik naar het grote geheel, maar er werken hier heel veel collega\u2019s die gespecialiseerd zijn in de specifieke SAP-modules die Maxeda gebruikt. Finance, hr, noem maar op. Alles bij elkaar wel tweehonderd mensen in Nederland en wereldwijd nog veel meer, van wie sommigen meer dan dertig jaar ervaring hebben. Er is dus altijd iemand om me verder te helpen als ik vragen heb.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-voor-het-beste-gaan\">Voor het beste gaan<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Het mooiste is: al deze mensen hebben dezelfde drive. Iedereen hier houdt van zijn werk en gaat voor het beste. Als je dan een klant hebt die er precies zo over denkt, dan weet je dat het moet lukken. En de bewijzen zijn er: de migratie naar S\/4HANA voor Retail hebben we in 2020 succesvol afgerond, als een van de eersten in Europa. En recent hebben we dus succesvol die SAP-upgrade en overgang naar Google Cloud-platform gerealiseerd. Her advice: see it as a series of small jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The whole alphabet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ve probably heard the saying: it\u2019s not about the destination, it\u2019s about the journey to get there. And that journey is the part of my job that I enjoy most. SAP migrations are complex projects, especially for large organizations. We have a clear vision of where we want to go. But to get from A to Z, you have to go through all the other letters too. I enjoy doing that very carefully. When you take every small step with care, then the big milestones will be achieved automatically.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t just think it\u2019s fun to do; it\u2019s also the essence of my work as an SAP solution architect. It\u2019s my job to offer clients the best solution with the right approach. To me, this is the most suitable way to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Migration in two phases<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI took my first steps as an SAP specialist in 2012. Where I come from, in India, I was working as an SAP Basis consultant for a large organizational consulting bureau. Back then, I wanted to gain as much knowledge and experience as possible. I switched to Capgemini three years later; first in India, where I started working as SAP consultant and technical lead.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the Netherlands, I\u2019m the technical lead for a project team of 50 people, with whom I supported Maxeda with the migration of a legacy ERP system to S\/4HANA for Retail, as one of the first retailers in Europa. Recently we\u2019ve successfully completed the second phase: a SAP upgrade combined with a transition from our datacenters to the Public Google Cloud platform.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the Netherlands, I\u2019m the technical lead for a project team of 50 people, with whom I supported Maxeda with the migration of a legacy ERP system to S\/4HANA for Retail, as one of the first retailers in Europa. Recently we\u2019ve successfully completed the second phase: a SAP upgrade combined with a transition from our datacenters to the Public Google Cloud platform.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step by step<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMaxeda has used SAP for decades. In fact, they had it before I was even born! Since then, the company has grown enormously. So it was time to adapt the systems to that development and to switch to the more advanced solution that SAP offers now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut for such a big business, with so many suppliers and with all of the legacy the company has accumulated over the past several decades, a transformation like this one can\u2019t be arranged from one day to the next. And the retail sector itself is dynamic as well; new challenges are waiting around every corner. So it comes down to the careful approach I was just talking about. We go step-by-step into the new world together with the client.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Building on your colleagues<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s a very intensive process. Everyone\u2019s constantly on the edge, both on our side and on the client\u2019s side. Every day &#8211; and night &#8211; there are new questions to answer, new problems to solve, and new functionalities to develop. Yes, it\u2019s a tough job. But to be honest, that\u2019s how I prefer to work. I perform best under pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPlus, I can build upon the enormous pile of knowledge and experience that we have in-house here at Capgemini. As an architect, I look at the bigger picture, but here are many colleagues working here who are specialized in the specific SAP modules that Maxeda uses. Finance, HR, you name it. All together, we have up to 200 people in the Netherlands and worldwide even many more, with some of them having more than 30 years of experience. So there\u2019s always someone to help me when I have questions or challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Going for the best<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe great thing is: all these people have the same drive. All colleagues here love their work, and they strive for the best. So when you have a client that thinks the same way, you know it\u2019ll be a success. And now we have the proof: we successfully completed the migration to S\/4HANA for Retail in the year 2020. And then there\u2019s the successful completion of the SAP upgrade combined with the transition to the Public Google Cloud platform I just mentioned.
