It has slowly become a yearly tradition that we are all looking forward to. This year of course, will be no different. We are happy to welcome all of you to the next edition: Hackathon Weekend 2019 – Intelligent Automation! However, this yearly edition will be at a new location, the Bilderberg Hotel in Garderen.
On this site you will find more information about the event, such as the time and place, the rules, the teams, and you will have the opportunity to sign up for the event. Of course we hope you will all participate! Please read through the site before signing up. See you all there!
Due to popularity, we will soon be reaching the maximum number of participants! Note that the registration is on a first-come-first-serve basis. Once the hotel is full, we can not accept any more registrations. The registration will close on the 23rd of January. Because of the agreements with the hotel, we need to be strict on this date this year. Also we would like to know before the 23rd if you are planning to stay till Saturday or Sunday.
What are we going to do?
The weekend is a 48 hours non-stop coding challenge (a.k.a. hackathon). During this time, various teams will battle each other and strive to develop the best and most innovative ideas into working products.
The event will take place in a hotel where you will be accommodated with a place to work and sleep (if you really must). This will involve wifi, lots of caffeine, breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, games and other necessities to keep you going for 48 hours.
At the end of the challenge, a jury will pick a winner. “There can be only one”, so make sure it’s your team! The event will be concluded with music and drinks.
The theme of this year’s Hackathon Weekend is: Intelligent Automation. Think of everything related to voice, chatbots, RPA, machine learning and many other cool topics. You are free to bring any tools, devices etc. with you to make sure you bring home the prize.
Time and place
The weekend kicks off on Thursday, the 7th of February 2019 at 18:00 at the Bilderberg Hotel Garderen in Gelderland. The contest runs until the 9th of February… exactly 48 hours later. After that, the evening program then runs until around 20:00.
What’s the deal on Friday?
Good question. For employees from the following units within Capgemini this has been arranged:
- Financial Services B71
- Financial Services Belgium
Employees from other practices / BUs will have to discuss this day with their manager.
Who should participate?
Everybody! Just make sure you form a team with people from various disciplines. Doing so will help you overcome challenges you may not be able to overcome when you form a team of just business analysts or only tibco developers. So, make sure you have a nice, multi-disciplinary team.
To enroll, you need to have a Scrum-sized team (between 3 and 9 people).
However, you are not limited to form a team of your practice. You may also invite people from other SBU’s within Capgemini, the client, or even friends or family who have no connection to Capgemini. As a matter of fact, highly encourage you inviting the client or your friends and family.
Don’t have a team yet? Just sign up individually and we will help you find a team!
So you are interested and want to sign up immediately, right? Well there’s a few things that you need to take care of before you can participate.
- You need to register the names of your Scrum team members
- You need to appoint a team leader
- You need to enter a name for your team
Of course, the composition of your team and the team name can be changed later. However, the organization wants to know how many people will be participating. It also helps if you can provide a short description of your team’s idea. You have to sign up via this website before the 23rd of January (requires Capgemini login).
- Your team size is a Scrum-team size (between 3 and 9 people)
- Your team participates in all mandatory events at the Hackathon (presentation, physical challenges, quizzes, etc.)
- You bring your own devices. There are no devices provided for you. You are allowed to bring whatever you want (laptops, extra monitors, google glass, beamers, 3D-printers, etc.)
- You have to sign up your team before January 23rd! Make sure you have a list of team members and an ‘idea’ ready you want to work on
We highly encourage you to bring guests to the event. We use the weekend to promote Capgemini outside of our organization, so do not shun to invite your colleagues from Capgemini or your previous work, your manager, your co-workers at your client site, your wife and kids, your grandfather, two yorkshire terriers, everybody!
Your guests can vote on their favourite team to win, so make sure you invite them! Just make sure you register guests beforehand with the Hackathon organization by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
