TRW’s Safety Domain ECU (SDE), a flexible
integration hub that integrates a number of chassis, suspension and advanced
driver assist system control functions into a single unit. TRW’s SDE supports
AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System Architecture) and is composed of a
high-performance microcontroller and an open software architecture, allowing
the integration of modules from both vehicle manufacturers and third parties.

SDE focuses on collision mitigation or a
significant improvement of passive safety systems based on additional
environmental sensing and a high interaction between actuators. Compared to
previous generation controllers, it has more sensors, with higher levels of
data fusion between them; arbitration between chassis systems (calling for much
more processing power); and a requirement for electronic architecture flexibility
to cope with different combinations of systems and functions with different
fitment rates.
