Legal Counsel – Commercial Management 6 to 10 years Mumbai


We are looking to hire Legal Counsel – Commercial Management with 6 – 10 years of exp in Mumbai location


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will enjoy a degree of responsibility appropriate to a senior lawyer supporting the full legal services provided by BENELUX Legal (but in general, not employment law), including:
  • supporting the commercial legal work on all phases of deals, ranging from the proposal/bid review stages through to negotiation and post signature issues. This includes helping determine strategic positions regarding that work;
  • supporting the commercial legal work for contract negotiations for the provision of IT, outsoursing (including business process outsourcing) and consultancy services;
  • working as part of the BENELUX Legal team and helping it provide innovative legal solutions for the Capgemini business;
  • working as part of the global legal team on global initiatives, including on occasions international transactions;
  • ancillary legal support, include supporting legal sign-off on deals (including through the BENELUX & Group legal sign-off processes) and policy drafting; and
  • to the extent necessary, liaise with business stakeholders and our external lawyers.

Experience: 6 – 10 years


Primary Skills (Must have)

  • Excellent grasp of general commercial and contract law principles;
  • Ability to manage and lead complex projects, including the legal support of large value and complex bids and transactions;
  • A strategic outlook and ability to support direction setting for your work and the business;
  • Proficiency in understanding and managing risks arising out of your work;
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise and thought leadership in your area of expertise;
  • Expert in English based verbal and written communications for both formal and informal settings. BENELUX languages an advantage but not essential. An ability to develop over time effective negotiation skills;
  • Proven stakeholder management skills capable of forging relationships with top management, senior executives, business managers, team members, clients and 3rd parties;
  • Confidence to influence the business at a senior level and set expectations;
  • Demonstrated empathetic style and valuing of diversity;
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills;
  • Strong commercial skills and understanding;
  • Demonstrated resilience, such as resilience to multi stakeholder demands and changes during negotiations;
  • Ability to work successfully as part of a team, foster knowledge sharing and lead and coach small teams, such as those based in Mumbai;
  • Lead efforts to suggest improvements to work practices and develop new thinking and approaches profitable for Capgemini’s business, including as based on feedback, personal insight and best practice;
  • Capable of delivering training in own area of expertise; and
  • Awareness of the general external business environment applicable to Capgemini
