Director – Digital Engineering

An overview of the role:

 

We are looking for an individual with a strong track record in the delivery of Digital Engineering in manufacturing industries such as Aerospace, Defence, Life Sciences, Consumer Products and Automotive.  S/he will have experience of the issues faced by manufacturers, the key digital engineering challenges including both product and process digitisation. S/he will have the deep experience of the transformation programme lifecycle from strategy through to implementation. S/he will be able to demonstrate an active and well-informed knowledge of one or more of the manufacturing industries and have an opinion on key trends.

Why this role?

 

You will be contributing to the plan for effective development and growth of Capgemini’s Digital Engineering capabilities. Ensuring effective delivery and timely completion of projects in alignment with commercial goals. Acting as an authority and thought leader in Digital Engineering transformation in one or more of our target industries.

 

  • Business development – using a combination of Capgemini’s broader pre-existing company relationships and your own network to generate revenue of circa £2million per annum.
  • Engaging with clients – developing relationships with senior leaders, VPs and Directors within Tier 1 organisations.
  • Developing relevant propositions in Digital Engineering strategy, consulting and technology.
  • Working collaboratively with consultants in Digital Engineering and Supply Chain teams to ensure delivery success.
  • Contributing to the leadership of the Digital Engineering team and recruiting consultants.
  • Leading members of the team in delivery to ensure their effective development.

Why you?

You will have a robust knowledge of Digital Engineering key issues and challenges from strategy, product design, digital twin development, manufacturing and full product lifecycle management encompassing service, sustainability and circularity.

 

Knowledge and experience of scoping and delivering projects which include engineering and manufacturing operations covering processes and efficiency drivers across one of more of the following areas: 

 

  • Capability and process models for Digital Engineering,
  • Innovation & product lifecycle management processes and value drivers including connected and mechatronic product design principles,
  • Agility and Lean based delivery methods that can improve productivity, ways of working and throughput,
  • Working knowledge of platform tools such as Dassault Systèmes 3DX, Siemens Teamcenter, SAP PLM or other.

You’ll be experienced in consultancy methods and approaches, learned through either working for a consulting organisation or via project implementation within industry.

 

  • You can give worked examples of how automation can improve operational performance.  
  • Experience of working at a senior level to structure programmes within either a major consultancy or tier 1 organisation.
  • A demonstrable network, in Tier 1 and key Tier 2 firms.
  • A combination of experience in Digital Engineering transformation with technology and more general consulting experience, gained from time spent within these areas.
  • A track record of selling and delivering major Digital Engineering programmes, defined either through their monetary value or the major impact it has had on the client.
  • A history of leading teams and delivering innovative but realistic solutions to client problems.
  • Strong track record of regularly exceeding Professional Services related sales targets.

Whilst you will have London, Manchester or Glasgow as an office base location, you must be fully flexible in terms of assignment location, as these roles may involve periods of time away from home at short notice.
