Let’s talk about the role and responsibilities:

The DataOps Engineer is a highly skilled, experienced expert in their field of excellence. The role of the DataOps Engineer is to collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, software engineers and data engineers. The role involves building and maintaining of the existing data and platform pipelines and facilitation of changes to the pipeline.

  • Designing and implementing process controls to flag anomalies in the the data/platform pipelines.
  • Developing continuous integration/deployment pipelines for new datasets/analytics.
  • Designing tools for managing the infrastructure and programming clean and reusable code.
  • Working across many platforms on different programming languages.

Let’s talk about your qualifications and experience::

  • Education level – Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field;
  • A minimum of 8 years industry experience;
  • Previous knowledge of AWS; including Security aspects, IAM, Policies, VPC and data services such as Athena, Glue, Redshift and EMR;
  • Experience in orchestrating complex DataOps/DevOps pipelines using Apache Airflow;
  • Experience using statistical process control to maintain the health of a pipeline;
  • Experience working in DataOps/DevOps on a large Data warehouse/lake/hub project;
  • Experience in AWS Cloud Infrastructure Provisioning using Ansible and Terraform as configuration management tool;
  • Experience in building automated test pipelines and using Splunk/Cloudwatch/Cloudtrail for alerts and notifications;
  • Experience in Jenkins (Groovy), Shell Scripting and Python;
  • Sound knowledge and experience in continuous development/delivery while maintaining a data pipeline;
  • Advantageous:
  • Building and deployment in platforms such as Buildkite, Jenkins, Travis CI, Bamboo, GitLab, TeamCity, Artifactory, Nexus etc;
  • Experience with Hadoop/Spark;
  • Experience working with Agile/SCRUM methodology
  • AWS certification
