Strategy and Team Leading

·Drive the creation of a devops team to help us rapidly transform our legacy behaviors with new resources, new processes, and tools.

·Set goals, strategies and roadmaps to help us achieve a true devops focused culture and behaviors.

· Manage a complex grouping of consultants and partners to achieve goals.

Responsibilities of the team (for the eCommerce Platform)

·Lead the maintenance and administration of infrastructure-related activities.

·Lead the resolution of issues in partnership with a solid support team and vendor expertise (i.e., you don’t have to solve the problem, but you will lead the team to solve the problem.)

·Help to set a monitoring strategy and then actively monitor systems, suggest monitoring improvements.

·Understand OS level patch compliance requirements, establish a plan to become compliant, execute plan on an ongoing basis.

·Understand upgrade goals and help to drive an improved upgrade strategy for our product that ultimately includes no downtime upgrades.

·Work with application architects to understand targeted upgrade versions for our application stack – create plans / execute upgrades.

·Lead AMI creation and management activities (creation, maintenance, retirement, etc.)

·Lead the work of DBA specialists to ensure that DB health is always optimal.

·Coordinate and drive regular health checks across the environment.

·Plan and Execute migration and upgrade projects.

Technical Experience

·5-7+ years of extensive DevOps Engineering or System Administration experience.

·Strong Cloud Deployment and technology experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, EBS, S3, VPC, Route 53, etc.)

·Database Administration – setup, configuration and basic database troubleshooting skills.

·Understanding of high availability hardware and database systems design and implementation including cluster management, redundancy and failover testing.

·UNIX/LINUX and Windows and server experience, including expertise in system installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, preventative maintenance, capacity planning, monitoring, and security procedures.

·Web (IIS, Apache), .Net & Java application (Tomcat, Jboss, etc) server expertise including installation, administration, configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, preventative maintenance, capacity planning, monitoring, and security procedures.

·Experience with Understanding of internet standards.

·Configuration Management experience with Chef, Terraform or similar.

·Experience with monitoring complex infrastructure with various tools such as Splunk, NewRelic, or similar.

·Continuous Integration experience with Team City or similar CI Tools.

·Experience programming with scripting languages.

·Solid understanding of SDLC.

·Self-driven leader who actively works to improve and create strong processes to ensure successful partnership and execution.

·Desire and ability to build strong, cohesive relationships across other IT teams and ability to lead resources in a heavily matrixed, consultant-based team.

·Love technical transformation – we are at the early stages of DevOps.

·Strong verbal and written communication skills.

·Ability to deliver information in a clear, concise way, ensuring the stakeholders are well informed and can make appropriate decisions.

·Proactive, self-motivated, and team-working.

Experience with any of the following helpful, but not required

·DBA-related Experience with Cassandra or similar NOSQL databases.

·Experience with tracking tools such as Jira or similar.

·Experience with Node.JS, NGINX, RabbitMQ, Redis, and SQL.
