Main Purpose of the Role:
The Cloud Solution Architect is a senior, customer facing technical role responsible for evaluating a customer’s technical IT and infrastructure requirements and then designing a comprehensive cloud based solution which achieves the business, performance and service management requirements of the customer.
The purpose of the role is to be a primary customer facing technical point of contact to lead in discovery of the technical requirements necessary to then design an appropriate cloud based solution, including presenting the technical solution and services to the customer.
The Cloud Solution Architect is senior, technical role operating as a key individual contributor.
This means the typical day to day task level planning, execution, quality and delivery of the technical solutions are self-managed by the individual.
The expected Cloud Solution Architect deliverable is a comprehensive cloud solution design with pricing, which is often part of a broader proposal, typically having defined deadlines for delivery to a customer.
The successful candidate will work in parallel across multiple customer engagements depending upon complexity, and will work closely with each customer to design a comprehensive technical cloud solution which achieve the customer’s IT performance requirements, appetite for risk, address business continuity, plus support their technical infrastructure requirements, cost targets and service management expectations by utilizing the continually evolving public, private and hybrid cloud platforms and managed service offerings.
The successful candidate will also add value as an important team member for the industrialisation of Capgemini’s cloud solution processes with the objective of improving efficiencies, solution accuracy and continually increasing technical cloud expertise as market expectation and cloud services continue to evolve.
The Cloud Solution Architect works closely with customers, Capgemini sales, 3rd party providers and other business units to ensure consulting engagements are successful.
The role is responsible for understanding the client’s technical business and cloud needs and accurately translating the needs into technical requirements to successfully design and quote a cloud based solution.
The candidate may work as part of a broader pursuit team, working alongside other Capgemini technical team members, focused on developing a comprehensive cloud based service offering.
This includes the a bility to accurately identify potential technical resource skills and estimate the effort required to deliver the proposed cloud solution based on understanding the transformation process from the as-is customer environment to the proposed cloud solution.
The result of this capability is assisting the pursuit team with identifying the technical resource requirements for the future delivery of the cloud service for inclusion in a comprehensive proposal.
Key skills include the ability to understand and communicate the following at an executive level both internally and externally:
· Detailed understanding of public, private and hybrid cloud solutions with experience migrating traditional hosting/delivery models to public cloud services
· Networking, including network security, VLANs, firewalling, WAN and internet/VPN services
· Detailed understanding of cloud technologies and cloud adoption approaches
· First-hand understanding of cloud migration techniques (on premise to Cloud Platforms)
· Knowledge and experience on one or more virtualisation platforms – ex: VMWare, vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V, Xen or similar
· Understanding of application server platforms used in a corporate environment and the hosting requirements these require (ex: Tomcat, Jboss, Websphere) ·
