The Database Architect will be responsible for creating and tuning database architectures for a Data Warehousing application. 

This person must be willing to work in a fast paced environment. 

The successful candidate will analyze current and future system requirements and provide advanced database services to support multiple project implementations.


Determines database structural requirements by analyzing operations, applications, and programming; review objectives with stakeholders; evaluating current systems;

Develops database solutions by designing proposed system; defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, security, back-ups, and recovery specifications.

Identify study and understand requirements and translate them into Low level design in Design phase.

Installs database systems by developing flowcharts; applying optimum access techniques; coordinating installation actions; documents actions.

Create, test and implement PL/SQL triggers, stored procedures, functions, and packages.

Maintains database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases; completing maintenance.

Analyze data requirements and create the designs needed to implement solutions; develop technical requirements definition, mapping and gap analysis following development standards.

Create High Level and detailed design documents in the Design phase.

Provides database support by coding utilities, responding to user questions, and resolving problems.

Design and implement disaster recovery process to ensure production data is recoverable.

Lead capacity and performance review of the environment, identify optimization opportunities and recommend future growth needs.

Identify areas of process improvement and implement automation where applicable.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications;

Identify architectural issues in design and propose alternative solutions.

40% SME (QG3, review and creation of A&DD).

50% QA (design guidance & review, code review, TC review, process improvements, compliance) .    

10% Technical Deployment review.

Specialized/Practical Knowledge:

o ITIL certified (Preferred).

o Oracle PL/SQL Expert (Oracle v11.2.0.3).

o Must Have Strong Data Modelling experience (Awareness of Normalization concepts).

o Oracle PL/SQL programming.

o Expert in PL/SQL tuning and identifying performance bottlenecks

o Expert in Materialized views, partitioning, Oracle db-jobs, triggers, BULK COLLECT, OO concepts, Dynamic SQL, Collections, Exception Handling.

o Migration experience(Good to Have).

o Expertise in Unix (AIX) and Shell scripting preferable.

o Expertise in using Toad and SQL Developer.

o Self Starter – Should be motivated and be able to work with minimal supervision. 

o Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.

o IBM Remedy iDesk 

o Clear Case 

o Clear Quest

o Oracle experience (Preferred – planned to upgrade current version to soon)

o .Net Development Experience (Preferred)

o Retail Domain (Preferred)

Management Skill:

o Team Management.

o Client and  vendor relationship management.

o Good communication skill (English).


o Most of the client communication and reporting.

o Moderating Weekly/Monthly status call with client.

o Effective communication within team. 

o In time reporting to Capgemini Management or supervisor.

Complexity/Problem Solving:

o Analytical skill.


Architect’s role will mainly  focus on:

– SME (QG3, review and creation of A&DD).

– QA (design guidance and review, code review, TC review,  process improvements, compliance).

– Technical Deployment review.

– Release Stream Strategy in cooperation with the client.

– Any other topic as required by the demand.

– Supports SLF towards improvement in quality of service by providing Technical coaching to complex architectural issues/problems.
