women<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><\/article><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-cg-blocks-group undefined section--story-content article-body section section--article-content\"><div class=\"article-main-content\"><div class=\"container\"><div class=\"row\"><div class=\"col-12 col-md-11 col-lg-10 offset-md-1 offset-lg-1\"><div class=\"article-text article-quote-text\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-across-the-world-charities-and-ngos-are-working-to-prevent-violence-against-women-we-find-out-how-capgemini-s-charity-partners-are-continuing-to-address-the-root-causes-of-this-important-issue\">Across the world, charities and NGOs are working to prevent violence against women. We find out how Capgemini\u2019s charity partners are continuing to address the root causes of this important issue.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the United Nations, \u201cviolence against women and girls is one of the most widespread, persistent and devastating human rights violations in our world today\u201d. Capgemini believes that making real progress on the issue of gender inequality depends on addressing its fundamental causes, including the lack of access to quality education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One charity tackling this very issue in Morocco is&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/comitessf.org\/\">CSSF<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 they\u2019re helping girls from rural areas to develop their education and sense of individuality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to its president, Naima Senhadji, CSSF is based on the values of participation, equal opportunities, and a culture of human rights. \u201cCSSF was created with a clear vision: to ensure all rural girls in Morocco have access to quality education, are aware of their role in society, and fully enjoy their rights,\u201d says Naima. \u201cThis prevents underage marriage and early labour, both of which are forms of violence against girls.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Capgemini has financed the schooling of girls and funded the entire cost of two homes in Morocco, enabling 40 girls from rural areas to continue their studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-turning-fear-to-joy-in-india\"><strong>Turning fear to joy in India<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Also tackling the root causes of violence is the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/deenabandhutrust.org\/\">Deenabandhu Trust<\/a>, which works with Capgemini to improve the way young children at schools in India learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe students at these schools come from very poor backgrounds,\u201d says Saibal Mitra from the Trust. \u201cWe are also aware of the domestic violence that takes place in society, especially towards young girls. Addressing this issue was paramount for this project.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Capgemini has helped the trust develop an awareness programme designed to promote a joyful learning experience, where children are taught to understand their human rights. In doing so, they have more chance to grow up free from violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-addressing-complications-from-covid-in-france\"><strong>Addressing complications from COVID in France<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With the COVID-19 pandemic, the issues facing vulnerable women have only intensified. Not only have cases of domestic violence risen, some organisations that offer shelter to women have been unable to take new residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Capgemini contacted the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fondationdesfemmes.org\/\">Fondation&nbsp;des&nbsp;Femmes<\/a>&nbsp;in France, which works with women experiencing violence, to offer a solution: the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.les-fontaines.com\/en\/\">Serge Kampf Les Fontaines Campus<\/a>, named after Capgemini\u2019s founder, would be opened as a safe haven for a group of woman and children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Capgemini&#039;s Campus for Courage\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SccBMdyKrqI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Celine Rancoule, director of patronage at the Fondation des Femmes, thanked the Capgemini teams for their help. \u201cThe project involved opening up Les Fontaines during full lockdown, in greatest secrecy. However, the team showed incredible professionalism to make this happen in record time in difficult circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-safety-and-shelter\"><strong>Safety and shelter<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foyer-afj.fr\/\">AFJ<\/a>&nbsp;is another French organisation that has benefited from Capgemini\u2019s support. For example, the charity Led by HER promotes better access to entrepreneurship for women, and fights to secure greater rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe help women who have suffered from violence to rebuild their lives through entrepreneurship teaching, coaching and mentoring\u201d says&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/chiaracondi.com\/about\/\">Chiara Condi<\/a>, founder. \u201cOur program is the first of its kind to specifically address the challenge of rebuilding a woman\u2019s professional career, rather than meeting their emergency needs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Capgemini has helped the organization to scale digitally, by building a new platform that will help mobilize more volunteers to help even more women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This work with Led by HER, and with all these fantastic organizations, contributes a positive step in building a violence-free future for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bringing-light-to-girls-in-india-with-enlight\"><strong>Bringing light to girls in India with \u2018Enlight\u2019<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/enlight.net.in\/\">\u2018Enlight\u2019<\/a>&nbsp;is a project delivered by Capgemini India to bring education to girls from disadvantaged families, including girls with disabilities, or from poor and homeless families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In doing so, it is helping to protect women against violence by addressing the social conditions and biases that deny access to basic facilities for girls and women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div girls<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using technology to improve the cognitive development of children<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthening the functioning of schools<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promoting better health and hygiene practices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Providing access to vocational skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To date, more than 90% of participating children have improved their competency levels in reading, writing and arithmetic, while parents and partnering communities have shown a greater awareness of the issues at stake and the aims of the project.<a
