that continues to grow.<\/h2><p class=\"intro-para-content\"><strong>The sector&#8217;s carbon intensity per euro generated is one of the highest, making its decarbonisation a global priority.\u202fThe sector has therefore set itself an ambitious goal for 2050: to be net zero.<\/strong><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-cg-blocks-group undefined section section--article-content\"><div class=\"article-main-content\"><div class=\"container\"><div class=\"row\"><div class=\"col-12 col-md-11 col-lg-10 offset-md-1 offset-lg-1\"><div class=\"article-text article-quote-text\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-medium is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.capgemini.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/PoV_AERO_SAF_COUV.webp?w=212\" alt=\"Alternative fuels for aviation\" class=\"wp-image-918108\" style=\"width:216px;height:305px\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Various levers are available to stakeholders to achieve this objective: technical levers with the optimisation of air traffic and ground operations, new designs and economical engines, the change of energy vectors (hydrogen, electricity) and fuels for sustainable aviation (CAD or SAF).\u202fThe latter represents 65% of the decarbonisation potential of the sector and is therefore the priority for manufacturers and their ecosystems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although SAFs are the major technical lever for the decarbonisation of aeronautics, their development alone will not allow complete decarbonisation and must therefore be considered in a set of technical solutions and societal changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study analyzes the 24 types of SAF conforming to the ASTM standard derived from biomass (biofuels) and the consequences of their use on other sectors of activity, human communities and the environment.\u202fE-fuels, produced from synthetic carbon and hydrogen, are outside the scope of this study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The document includes recommendations by geographical area summarising each area of analysis:
