The scoring process, widely recognised as the gold standard of corporate environmental transparency, is<\/strong> <strong>based on the data reported by the company through CDP\u2019s 2022 climate change questionnaire. More than 10,000 companies were scored.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Commitment to becoming a net zero business<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In July 2022, Capgemini was amongst the first companies globally to have its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.capgemini.com\/gb-en\/news\/press-releases\/capgemini-amongst-the-first-companies-globally-to-have-its-net-zero-targets-validated-according-to-the-sbtis-new-net-zero-standard\/\">net zero targets validated according to the SBTi\u2019s new net-zero standard<\/a>. The Group has set more ambitious short-term and long-term carbon reduction targets, including achieving a 90% reduction in all carbon emissions across scope 1, 2 and 3 by 2040. Capgemini\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.capgemini.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/EnvironmentalSustainabilityReport-Final1-27th-July.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ten-point global net zero programme<\/a> spans across business travel, employee commuting, office and data centre energy, as well as the emissions from purchased goods and services. Capgemini has also launched a unique <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FkHjhWm82N0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Energy Command Centre (ECC)<\/a> in Bangalore (India), which uses digitalisation and leverages the measurement and projected data to monitor and manage energy performance across its campuses in India, which account for about a quarter of the Group\u2019s energy footprint. The ECC has achieved a 24% reduction in energy consumption since its launch, making a material contribution to its sustainable development initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>It is important for us to work closely with respected independent partners like CDP to drive our climate action and reporting,\u201d <\/em>said Aiman Ezzat, CEO of Capgemini.<em> \u201cIn order to truly accelerate on our transition to a low carbon economy, transparency on climate action by all players is an absolute requirement, and in the wake of COP27, the urgency has never been greater. It has become a key criterion not only for consumers and for current and future employees, but also increasingly for organisations, when they decide who they do business with.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maxfield Weiss, Executive Director, CDP Europe, said: \u201c<em>With the EU\u2019s ground-breaking new reporting regulation, the CSRD, now agreed, CDP A List companies are showing they are ahead of the game \u2013 taking clear action to reduce emissions and to address environmental impacts throughout their value chains. This is the type of environmental transparency and action we need economy-wide to prevent ecological collapse.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CDP\u2019s annual environmental disclosure and scoring process<a id=\"_ftnref1\" href=\"#_ftn1\">[1]<\/a> is widely recognised as the gold standard of corporate environmental transparency. In 2022, over 680 investors with over US$130 trillion in assets and 280 major purchasers with US$6.4 trillion in procurement spend requested companies to disclose data on environmental impacts, risks and opportunities through CDP\u2019s platform.
