Global non-life insurance premiums grew moderately 2012 supported by price increases in some markets, particularly in Asia. Non-life insurance underwriting results improved moderately and insurance customers around the globe have higher expectations and are demanding anytime-anywhere services.

This paper examines two key trends in the front office function of non-life insurance companies: the adoption of cloud technology to help reduce per-employee IT spend; and the increased investment in metadata architecture to manage complex application portfolios.
