Capgemini UK and The Prince’s Trust collaborate to solve real-world business challenges

London – Capgemini UK plc, part of the Capgemini Group, one of the world’s foremost providers of consulting, technology and outsourcing services, has today announced the launch of its new Co-Innovation Lab; the most recent addition to its global innovation lab network. Drawing on the skills and expertise from across the Group, the facility will bring clients together with its wide ecosystem of hand-picked digital partners, to explore emerging technologies and to generate innovative ideas.

At its heart is a concept of co-innovation, with clients directly involved in an iterative and uniquely collaborative process which will see creative solutions to their business challenges evolve in near real-time.

The launch represents an important milestone in Capgemini’s, and its customers’, digital journey and reflects a business wide commitment to continually evolve its digital proposition which runs through every aspect of the organisation. Capgemini’s digital capability was strengthened two years ago with the introduction of a new delivery unit, Capgemini Digital Services, and the launch of the Co-Innovation Lab marks the next stage in establishing Capgemini as a digital leader in the UK. Earlier this year, Capgemini announced a new global service line, Digital Customer Experience, combining the Group’s key digital assets and capabilities.

Capgemini is currently recruiting close to one hundred roles dedicated to further expanding the business’ digital expertise, including digital programme managers, consumer analytics consultants and digital marketing experts.

Solving real world business challenges

To mark the launch of the Co-Innovation Lab, Capgemini yesterday hosted a live event in partnership with The Prince’s Trust. The objective of the Co-Innovation Lab launch event was to create a collaborative ecosystem between the small business owners supported by the charity’s Enterprise programme and to help them become more competitive and economically efficient. To solve this genuine real-world challenge, the Co-Innovation Lab brought together a host of hand-picked experts from across Capgemini, The Prince’s Trust and a number of entrepreneurs.

Since 1983 The Prince’s Trust has supported more than 80,000 disadvantaged young people into business. The Enterprise programme offers low interest loans and business mentors.

Speaking at the launch, Christine Hodgson, Capgemini UK Chairman said: “Digital transformation is a real business priority and tellingly, our three years of research with MIT, has revealed that many companies are still struggling to understand how to utilise it properly. We have entered a true era of collaboration, and our Co-Innovation Lab marks not just an exciting chapter for Capgemini, but also our clients, who can now explore new digital possibilities and see them come to life before their eyes.

We’re delighted that this collaborative approach can support the tremendous work The Prince’s Trust achieves on a daily basis. It is an extraordinary organisation and we hope that the results from the Co-Innovation Lab session will provide the potential to help thousands of the UK’s small businesses.”

Dermot Finch, Director South England, The Prince’s Trust, added: “Seeing the Co-Innovation Lab in action is very exciting and I’m sure today’s session will help The Prince’s Trust-supported young people to find efficiencies which will benefit their businesses. Digital innovation is key to business success – so we can’t thank Capgemini enough for giving these young people this opportunity.”
