Capgemini UK signs the Trillion Tonne Communiqué

05 Jun 2014

The Trillion Tonne Communiqué calls on governments to:

l>
Set a timeline for achieving net zero emissions
Design a credible strategy to transform the energy system
Create a plan for fossil fuels, especially coal.

Capgemini UK considers environmental sustainability as a key element of our business ethos and we strive to demonstrate profitability while having positive environmental and societal impacts in all areas of our operations. We are therefore entirely aligned with the aspirations of the Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Groupwhich believes that climate risks can be successfully managed and that the transition to a net-zero emission economy can be delivered in ways that create new business opportunities, with manageable costs.

James Robey, Capgemini Group Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Director, said:
“We have signed up to all of the previous five Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group communiqués on climate change and we are pleased to put our names to the Trillion Tonne Communiqué too. Recent reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the White House show that governments and businesses need to accelerate efforts to reverse the impacts of climate change.”

Capgemini has announced the decision to commit to the Trillion Tonne Communiqué on the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) World Environment Day, 5 June 2014.
