Reflections on an award winning partnership with Code Your Future

On the evening of the graduation of our second cohort of Coding Academy students, I reflect on how our partnership with Code Your Future has created an award winning programme to help disadvantaged groups reach their potential

As we prepare to celebrate the graduation of our 2020 London Coding Academy transforming the lives of refugees and people from disadvantaged backgrounds in partnership with CodeYourFuture, I’m reflecting on the elements of the partnership that have made it an award-winning programme.

At its heart is the conviction that all people have the right to reach their potential.

It is summed up by the judges of the Global Good Awards – which saw us take the Gold Spot for the Education project, started in London in 2019

“This is an ambitious project that supports some of the most disadvantaged people to contribute to society….it recognizes their talent and personal worth, treats them as valuable individuals throughout”

Winning Project of the Year in the Innovation category at the Business Charity awards, the judges also shared some insightful feedback –

An excellent example of a strategic partnership that is mutually beneficial for both organisations and crucially is having a strong impact on beneficiaries.

The ambition to provide refugees in the UK with access to training and skills helps to tackle an issue which is having a serious impact on society. It’s great to read that Capgemini is supporting participants by nurturing them beyond tech, including personal mentors and the removal of personal barriers.

Code Your Future is a special organisation. I knew from the moment we first met that we had the potential for a strong and successful partnership. We are lucky to be able to work with a like-minded organisation seeking solutions to todays’ challenges in innovative and practical ways.

These awards really recognise their work. I am so very proud of our partnership, the graduates from last year, many of whom are now in employment (six with Capgemini) and I’m very proud of our students – and all our volunteers who have made this happen.
