Capgemini’s Dreamforce London Experience Event

Tuesday 20th September marked the start of Dreamforce 2022 in San Francisco with 40 000 people attending the event at the Moscone Centre and 100 000 more registered to watch the recordings on Salesforce+. To recognise the occasion for our UK clients, Salesforce/MuleSoft partners, and colleagues, Capgemini hosted its own event to coincide with Salesforce’s main keynote. The Dreamforce London Experience focused on three key topics: commerce, sustainability and MuleSoft, and we were delighted to be joined by cross-industry clients.

What is Dreamforce?

Dreamforce is an annual event that brings together the global Salesforce community for learning, fun, community building and philanthropy. Trailblazers from all over the world gather to share their insights, successes, and learn the latest in industry innovations. From inspiring keynotes and sessions to visionary thinking and the future of technology and learning how business can be the greatest platform for change, attendees will be empowered to grow their organisation and careers.

Many Salesforce partners organised their own events to coincide with the Main Keynote, but we at Capgemini wanted to do something different, special and fun for our clients. As the 20th September also marked the end of London Fashion Week, we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to focus on the Fashion Industry and what could be learnt and applied across industries.

The event took place at The Brewery which kicked off with welcome videos from Salesforce including Zahra Bahrololoumi – CEO UKI, Ruth Ormsby – Capgemini’s Executive Sponsor and Jemma Byrne – VP UKI Alliances highlighting the success of our partnership and praising our support to RefugeeForce.

Paul Margetts, Capgemini UK CEO was thrilled to mention that our colleague Sima Samara, Salesforce Developer in Capgemini Netherlands and ex-member of RefugeeForce was in receipt of a ‘Golden Hoodie’ from Marc Benioff, Founder and co-CEO at Salesforce to reward her incredible journey from a Woman with a Voice who had to flee her country, to a Refugee, to an inspiring Trailblazer. We were very excited to welcome Ella Sharp-Mitchell, Course Leader at the London College of Fashion as our guest speaker to discuss “Design, Manufacturing & Distribution in the Fashion Industry – The Sustainability Challenge”. She walked the audience through the concept of the 6Rs: Reduce, Refuse/Reject, Repair, Re-use, Repurpose and Recycle, and also emphasized how digital technology could have a massive positive impact at various stages of the process to ultimately tackle Climate Change (the fashion industry produces approximately 10% of all humanity’s carbon emissions). Examples from some of her graduates inspired us to rethink the future of fashion and how Capgemini could also contribute with ideas such as: digital clothing to decrease consumerism, better body modelling for a more efficient supply chain, more innovative cutting systems to avoid waste and the list goes on.

Capgemini has been championing sustainability as a core value for our organisation and clients worldwide for several years and as part of that we have worked jointly with Salesforce to develop the Enterprise Sustainability proposition. This is based on Salesforce Net Zero Cloud and supports the challenges highlighted by Ella Sharp Mitchell in the fashion industry but equally fits with many sectors we work with across Capgemini.

Later on, we were joined by one of our MuleSoft consultants who has been working with one of our clients in the education sector to improve customer experience by enabling Virtual Learning, Student Enrolment and Onboarding. Since 2019, Capgemini has been instrumental in digitally transforming the client’s business. Due to the global nature of their organisation, this meant there was a huge need for data centralisation and standardisation for financial reporting and governance

Our partnership has enabled them in the following:

  1. Build a single integration platform to integrate their ERP as well as student management systems.
  2. Virtual learning enablement during the pandemic.
  3. Automation of student enrolment and onboarding processes.
  4. Master data management solution for reporting and governance purposes.

As part of their digital education strategy, we are currently helping to integrate various learning tools and content into a single robust platform.

During the Dreamforce keynote, Marc Benioff, co-CEO of Salesforce said: “As Trailblazers, we have achieved so much, of course we created a successful business, Salesforce Number 1 CRM but not only did you create a successful business, but you also made sure that the customers were successful. Customer Success is our highest value that we did it with customers in mind.” One of the values that Capgemini puts at the heart of the overall business is Customer First, as we are also passionate about customer centricity. Collaboration is embedded deeply in our DNA which is why we will keep working very closely with customers to deliver global transformation programs.
