Expert in Database Technologies and Database, Integration with bespoke and package applications

I advise my clients on the best way to exploit database technology to meet the requirements of their business and obtain maximum value for their technology investment.

On behalf of HMRC, we run about 1200 databases of various types on a variety of hardware, serving a variety of applications, bespoke and third-party, internal and on public internet. The databases support systems with very high data volume, high throughput, high user concurrency, some managing secure and sensitive information. I provide technical direction, align our strategy with the customer requirement, define standards, publicise and govern against them. I provide expert troubleshooting and have experience with various types of application: Tuxedo, JAVA (including WebLogic, Pega, EMC Documentum, MDTP Microservices JDBC), SAP and CA:Gen C/C++ applications. Advise on connection settings including XA timeouts. I guide the support teams and also lead on technical investigations into the most difficult problems, diagnosing the symptoms, identifying the faults and proposing resolution actions.
