Data Migration Specialist

Who you’ll be working with

Capgemini Financial Services requires an experienced Data Migration Specialist with Technical / Management skill in business intelligence, data warehousing, reporting and analytics. The person will apply his / her Financial Services industry expertise to help our clients derive value from their internal and external sources of data. This person must be able to engage with business and IT stakeholders and articulate solutions at various levels.

Some assignments are concerned with the architecture and design of solutions e.g. data warehouse and data migration projects, which require data integration experience. The Data Migration Specialist needs to be able to have an end-to-end vision, and to see how a logical design will translate into one or more physical Databases, and how the Data will flow through the successive Stages involved. As a senior member of a project team, he / she will need to be able to address issues of Data Migration (Validation, Clean-up and Mapping), data modelling and will need to understand the importance of process and data Governance including the development and maintenance of Data Dictionaries.

What you’ll be doing

The range of activities that our Data Migration Specialist will get involved with is extensive and includes:

  • Leading on the data migration needs for the new solution     
  • Overseeing and ensuring delivery of all aspects of data analysis, mapping and transfer    
  • Coordinate with third party for executing the migration        
  • Coordinating with multiple teams to support the migration activity
  • We require an individual who has developed expertise in data migration.
  • The individual needs to have experience working in complex, multi-priority and matrixed organisations, and expertise dealing with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Manage the migration activities of multiple application across multiple systems             
  • Identifying the data migration impact of all proposed changes    
  • Reviewing gaps and proposing a solution for data migration during the solution design phase               
  • Document some lessons learnt exercise
  • Conceptual, Logical and Physical Data modelling including canonical data models (business logical models)
  • Development of a data strategy and associated governance policies, procedures
  • Selection of capabilities and systems to meet business information needs from a data perspective – this must include how the solutions are delivered i.e. link to solution architect
  • Business Case and Cost Justification of the development of Informational Systems
  • Reviewing Corporate Information exploitation, the effectiveness of their Informational Systems and gaps between their data information requirements and capabilities
