Who you’ll be working with

Capgemini Financial Services requires an experienced Data Architect with Technical / Management skills in the area of business intelligence, data warehousing, reporting and analytics. The person will apply his / her Financial Services industry expertise to help our clients derive value from their internal and external sources of data. This person must be able to engage with business and IT stakeholders and articulate solutions at various levels.

Some assignments are concerned with the architecture and design of solutions e.g. data warehouse and data migration projects, which require data integration experience. The Data Architect needs to be able to have an end-to-end vision, and to see how a logical design will translate into one or more physical Databases, and how the Data will flow through the successive Stages involved. As a senior member of a project team, he / she will need to be able to address issues of Data Migration (Validation, Clean-up and Mapping), data modelling and will need to understand the importance of process and data Governance including the development and maintenance of Data Dictionaries.

What you’ll be required to do

The range of activities that our Data Architects get involved with is extensive and includes:

  • Development of the Enterprise Information Architecture and alignment with Corporate Strategy, specifically the data elements
  • Definition of Enterprise Information Requirements
  • Conceptual, Logical and Physical Data modelling including canonical data models (business logical models)
  • Development of a data strategy and associated governance policies, procedures
  • Selection of capabilities and systems to meet business information needs from a data perspective – this must include how the solutions are delivered i.e. link to solution architect
  • Business Case and Cost Justification of the development of Informational Systems
  • Reviewing Corporate Information exploitation, the effectiveness of their Informational Systems and gaps between their data information requirements and capabilities
  • Technical Consultancy: advising clients on aspects of designing and building a data warehouse solution and how to exploit /best user their data. This should include identifying competitive uniqueness
  • Technical Design Authority / Architect for delivery / build projects using technical skills above and including liaison and negotiation with major and niche leading-edge technology suppliers.
  • Presales – Providing technical input and meeting with clients to secure new business.
  • Responding to client RFI, RFP and ITT documents including cost estimates and follow activities to secure new business.
  • examines existing software and determines requirements for new/modified systems in the light of business needs;
  • undertakes feasibility study to design data flow solutions and working with the solution architect to put this into practice

What you’ll bring

  • Comprehensive experience in the Information Technology industry with recent experience of client facing Data Architecture development
  • Should have TOGAF qualification and be versed in Capgemini IAF
  • A strong academic track record including the achievement of a good honours degree or equivalent
  • Experience of working within the consulting industry or end user organisation
  • A track record of delivering Data Architectures as part of Data warehouse projects
  • Comfortable liaising with senior client personnel to establish requirements and discuss potential development strategies for data development
  • Able to interpret business requirements in terms of data architecture, database technology and data model design
  • Excellent communication skills – interviewing, preparation and delivery of presentations and reports
