Following yesterday’s blog post about how the infra world will be driven by the app world, here’s more from Paul Hammond, VP of Infrastructure Services at Capgemini:
“Cloud consolidation has been going on for a while now as the race to the bottom on a commodity product continues. Chasing the public cloud market is a massively asset intensive play, which means fewer vendors will try to compete on this service alone.
“In 2016, we can expect many of the smaller providers to be acquired by the big players such as AWS and Microsoft Azure. However, the trend towards ‘hybrid IT’ means there are still opportunities for vendors to thrive with differentiated services. This includes ‘cloud choice’ offerings which enable businesses to get best of breed services from several suppliers at once.”
