Christine Hodgson, Capgemini UK ChairmanIn its celebration of International Women’s Day, Management Today named its 13 most inspiring UK businesswomen. Capgemini UK Executive Chairman Christine Hodgson featured along with Victoria Beckham, Karren Brady, Martha Lane-Fox and J.K. Rowling. The article, which looked at how these extremely successful women began their careers, found that their early working lives were as fascinating as they were different.

The selection was made from a survey commissioned by Management Today of 160 business owners – both male and female.
 
While some of the stories are well known, others were more surprising. Carolyn McCall, CEO of easyJet, began her working life teaching history. Mumsnet founder Justine Roberts worked in the City for 10 years before becoming a sports journalist. The late Anita Roddick, founder of Body Shop, was originally a teacher before studying at a kibbutz in Israel.
