I advise my clients on Information Governance frameworks that are appropriate to their level of organisational and technological maturity. Applying a keep-it-relevant approach, I typically interact with up to 100 or more stakeholders across Finance, Sales, Marketing, Service, Procurement, Supply Chain, Production, Operations and IT and set up (or reform) dedicated Information Governance Councils as the formal decision-making bodies. The ambition always is to raise awareness for the importance of a solid IG framework and to facilitate a ‘good enough’ level of data standardisation and harmonisation of data policies across all business units. This then usually serves as the foundation for a wide variety of data management projects, from MDM and BI to Analytics and Big Data.
