Enterprise Architecture

Brian Whitmore

Expert in Enterprise Architecture

I strongly believe that data is the fuel of digital businesses and that insight is the result of using this fuel to power the enterprise forward.  Using data from across the organisation will power the delivery of improved core services, allow better and controlled customer experiences and will make the organisation a safer place for all employees.

I am an Enterprise Architect (EA) with over 30 years of experience working across many sectors and technologies, delivering strategies and roadmaps and then staying around as a Programme Architect to ensure that the EA strategy delivers the promised business benefits. Over this time, I have worked with organisations to create information strategies to exploit the organisations data to improve business outcomes using emerging technologies such as business analytics, AI, RPA, ML and data science.

In the last 10 years, I have focused on Digital Asset Management technology platforms for Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) Operators in the UK. The aim is to provide a single view of their asset base across their entire asset lifecycle, thereby enabling the creation of a Digital Twin and a Common Data Environment (CDE).  Joining the two ‘worlds’ of Design and Construction with Operate and Maintain to provide a digital line of sight across the asset management lifecycle is a business, commercial and technology challenge that is a passion of mine.

In 2016, my work with a major UK airport for geospatial mobile app that provides real-time inspection and fault recording of airport assets was award Mobile App of the year by RealIT. My passion is to use my R&D expertise to find and deliver innovation for use with business solution is an integral part to my 30 years of experience.

Before joining Capgemini, I built a technology consulting business with leading geodemographic data company that used emerging technology to provide analytical insights for banking, telecoms, retailers and government departments. As a Vice President of Operations and Technology, I was able to create new ‘IPR’ products that took advantage of the emerging technology wave of Internet, 3G networks, Smart Phones and AI tools.

My early career in Research and Development (R&D) with a global oil and gas company enabled me build on my engineering and IT skills and to use my academic research experience to find innovative technology solutions for the oil and gas industry.

I am a strong believer in a healthy work-life balance which includes my family and faith. I enjoy volunteering to help people in need and I support organisation who help those in greatest needs.
