I take it as a personal as well as a professional challenge to get my clients in a strong position. Many face the prospect of personal liability if things go wrong, and that puts a focus on having 100% trust in the reassurance and the practical steps I help deliver to allay concerns about how secure the organisation’s data and information assets are. It also puts a focus on building complete awareness to senior management of how serious the threat is.
It’s for the whole enterprise to understand that data protection is about more than aligning what they do to the dictates of regulations such as GDPR/EU NIS or any number of other regulations. To encourage this understanding, I help CISOs and other security professionals to prepare detailed business cases; assessing the cyber-threats that exist and the measures that are essential for protection.
I have a strong technology background, which enables me to speak to technology professionals intelligently and build stronger links between the services they offer the enterprise and the business leaders who depend on them. That sums it up I think; mutual dependency. It’s about a circle of trust. I’m glad to say I play a catalytic role in keeping that circle turning.
