Session 1: Legacy modernization: From 4 releases per year to 104—using an automate-everything-that-moves attitude
Presented by: Joakim Lindbom, Chief Architect, Capgemini
Using modern thinking, tools, and approaches based on what we now take for granted in an cloud environment, we’ve successfully boosted time to market for a 20-year-old SOA system. Some of the concepts we’ve applied to gradually improve speed, stability, and predictability include: Ansible, anything-as-code, test automation, contract-based testing, CI/CD, DevOps, HATEOAS APIs, microservices, and data-driven development.
In this session, you’ll see how we’re now operating in a combination of multi-site, on-premises WAS and Red Hat OpenShift servers and running OpenShift in multiple cloud environments to support the most critical parts of a global organization. We’ve reached the limits of REST and are introducing CQRS, stream-based patterns with Kafka, eventual consistency, and more cloud-native patterns to scale well beyond and simplify the microservice mesh.
You can access our on-demand 30 minute breakout session under the Cloud-native Development Sessions track within the virtual experience, beginning April 28th at 11:00am EST.
