As one of the world's leading providers of digital services, technologies, and consulting, Capgemini is packed with people who live and breathe the digital world and for that reason, we have chosen to actively support and engage in esports.

With 225,000 employees spread across 40 countries, Capgemini’s approach to delivering digital solutions is very similar to how global esport teams operate. We come from all corners of the world, and we work across continents via digital platforms to deliver the best digital solution to our customers locally.

In short, esports is a global phenomenon that fits in with Capgemini’s DNA, values and not least, our employees’ interests. Just as in esports, we put values such as Fun, Team Spirit and Boldness at the forefront of our initiatives and we believe that the interaction between technology and people can create better businesses as well as a better world.

Capgemini collaborates with top-tier esport organizations such as North Esports (Denmark) and Team Oplon (France). Thus, we were the first major provider of digital consulting services to enter esport on a top-tier level and we did so because esport is a reflection of Capgemini and the values we build on.

“He [Serge Kampf, founder of Capgemini] hated sticking to what was comfortable, and his entire journey, like the Group’s, was the result of striking a subtle balance between being bold and being rational. Being bold leads us to take risks and being rational focuses our hunger for new adventures. Serge was not afraid to continually reinvent the Group he had built. His demanding vision, obsession for results, and passion for people never ceased to amaze me.” – Paul Hermelin, Chairman & CEO of Capgemini

Esport at Capgemini

Every year, we facilitate an internal Capgemini esport tournament in both Denmark as well as broader Scandinavia. Capgemini Scandinavian Championships are for the employees to gather and compete across borders in the virtual world and create a platform for fun, competitiveness and team spirit.

In Denmark we have several teams that compete in different company tournaments as well as internally against each other and games such as Counter Strike Global Offensive, League of Legends, Apex Legends, Hearthstone and many more are being played both casually as well as competitively.

North is a premier Scandinavian esports organisation. North owns several pro teams in esports; a top tier CS:GO team, a FIFA squad with some of the top players out there and a newly founded pro Apex Legends team. Norths mission is to entertain and excite fans in Scandinavia and across the globe. In 2020 they aim to consolidate a position among the world’s elite organizations and help lead the transformation of esports.

“By becoming a beacon of change, we will make sure everyone will “Hear The Roar”. We are ambition; we are courage; we are endurance; we are North!”

The organisation is based in the Danish national arena, Telia Parken, backed by Entertainment company Nordisk Film and Football Club FC København and builds on the DNA of success.

North underwent a major rebranding in 2020 to emphasize their focus on their Nordic roots and their ambition to become the leading Scandinavian esport organization.

Esport & ethics

Capgemini has been recognized consecutively for the last 8 years, highlighting its long-term commitment to ethical business practices, and is one of only 3 honorees in the Consulting Services industry. In 2020, 132 honorees were recognized spanning 21 countries and 51 industries. Since Serge Kampf founded the Capgemini Group in 1967, ethics has been a cornerstone in all of our activities. We use ethics purposefully to build trusting relationships with our customers, partners, shareholders, employees, suppliers and other stakeholders.

Research shows that gaming influences a lot of positive aspects such as:

  • Hand-eye coordination
  • Critical thinking
  • Problem Solving
  • Increased memory capacity
  • Teamwork
  • …to name just a few

In the often very complex games, the participants have to work together to achieve their goals. It helps promote not only the ability to collaborate, but also cognition, creativity and socialization. We believe that millions of people will be able to reap the benefits of playing esports on both a casual as well as on a professional level and grow both their professional as well as their private lives.
