Golder Associates, a global engineering consulting company with operations in 33 countries, reached a major milestone with go-live of Oracle Cloud HCM Suite of Applications for its Global HR Business Domain.
Golder Associates is a Canadian employee-owned, global company providing consulting, design, and construction services for major industries including oil and gas, mining, manufacturing, power, and infrastructure. It operates from more than 165 offices in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America. The human capital management (HCM) transformation program involved globalizing and harmonizing its HR business processes and technology to enable it to effectively manage the business worldwide.
Golder Associates’ overall goal was to become the world’s most productive consultant. It wanted to rebalance the IT portfolio in order to restructure the infrastructure, transition to managed services, and transform to a SaaS Cloud solution. This would allow Golder Associates to gain efficiencies and streamline process across the global HR Organization.
Several challenges had to be addressed. The HR legacy application footprint consisted of numerous disparate systems, resulting in complex and time-consuming management and reporting processes. Business methods were not consistent or integrated, due to the lack of one global application platform for HCM solutions. As a consequence, process standardization could not be enforced. Additionally, managing different vendor relationships, contract renewals, and application supports for disparate systems across Asia Pacific, Canada, UK, Ireland, USA, and Africa was challenging.
Golder Associate’s HR application footprint was transformed by consolidating to a single global application. The project followed a multi-rollout and multi-phase process to deliver a cloud solution for various regions in a planned waved approach. The program entailed six waves on Oracle Agile Methodology. The new cloud services include Oracle Taleo, Oracle HR, Oracle Employee Compensation, Oracle Talent Management, Oracle Benefits for USA, Employee Self Service, Manager Self-Service applications system, and Oracle Learn.
The team created a solution which enabled it to align the business strategy with the software solution. The team consolidated the HR systems, standardized global HR processes, and centralized HR functions while adhering to local compliance regulations. Another major success was unifying HR data in a single cloud solution, which supports the key goal of strategically reducing IT infrastructure support and optimizing human resource operations. The disparate, regional systems are now on one single Oracle Cloud platform. This global application footprint has allowed Golder Associates to move to the cloud environment with a single global application instead of fragmented legacy applications.
