Companies around the world in sectors from energy to finance have become increasingly motivated to track the progress of their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) programs. And not meeting regulatory standards has led to lawsuits and financial penalties for some.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An automative giant was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.corporateknights.com\/leadership\/here-are-the-nine-biggest-corporate-greenwashing-fines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sued<\/a> in 2021 for \u201cdelayed sharing of emissions-related reports\u201d while, the following year, the US SEC fined an investment bank $4 billion \u201cfor failing to follow ESG investment policies and misleading its customers.\u201d As the saying goes, you can\u2019t manage what you don\u2019t measure, and organizations amplify their risk when their ESG programs aren\u2019t keeping up with the pace of change in regulations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-achieve-esg-maturity-with-servicenow-nbsp-nbsp\"><strong>How to achieve ESG maturity with ServiceNow&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Although any reduction in carbon emissions, terrorist financing, or cybercrime (to cite some ESG examples) is a step in the right direction, C-level executives are facing increased pressure, including from key stakeholders, to accelerate their progress along the ESG maturity spectrum.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ESG programs at many companies aren\u2019t as effective as they could (or should) be.
