My usual work day
I usually arrive at work around 8 am and have my morning tea while checking my emails. Then, I prioritize my activities for the day. Presently, I’m working with a client located in Gothenburg and Copenhagen, so I spend two days a week at the client’s offices. Since Gothenburg is far away, I and my Project leader stay at a hotel when we visit the place. To me these work opportunitiescan providegreat benefits, and being a Consultant at Capgemini, I find ample career prospects. It allows you to work outside, and meet with new people on different projects at various locations. I like change!
However, when I’mnot working for any project, Ieither enhance my skills through various web-based courses provided by Capgemini or help other colleagues with their projects in cases of contingencies. There is always some way you can contribute, whetherit is of your interest or not. This special sense of friendliness is what we call FUN at Capgemini. We define FUN as employees being proud of what they do and achieving their objectives in the never-ending search for top quality. Here, you have an opportunity to try new things all the time, you will never get bored!
At noon, I eat lunch at one of the nearby restaurants. It is nice to get some fresh air and talk to my colleagues over food. After lunch, I go back to work, and sort out what I have finished and what is next. I leave for home at five o’ clock.
My life at Capgemini
Capgemini cultivates an atmosphere for development that enables employees to be hands-on, planning for growth, both horizontally and vertically. As a new employee,it has been a warm welcoming. The people around me have been eager to ensure that I can ask anybody anything if I have any questions. What I have noticed during the short period of time that even though everybody is different in their kind of way, we are all friendly, motivated in our work, talented and outgoing. In an environment that’s complex, fast paced and incredibly diverse, our team spirit, friendship, fidelity, generosity, fairness in sharing the benefits of collective work; accepting responsibilities and an instinctive willingness to support common efforts are really helpful when the storm is raging.
Places I have been
In Stockholm, the first batch of new joiners participated in our newly tailored on-boarding program which included a robust orientation program for three days. The induction process was extremely valuable to all the new hires. The courses focused on the organization of Capgemini, the departments, the future goals and such, but also what defines a good consultant. These three days were really fun, I got to know a lot of people ate great food and learned a lot about the company.
The next national get-together will soon take place in Gothenburg, with the new hires. In this two-day meet, we aim to enhance our skills and expertise, and improve our unique selling points in our capacity as Consultants.
My personal life
One of the main interests in my life is music. When I was young, I listened a lot to punk rock and really enjoyed that, so much that I wanted to play the music, not just listen to it. So I bought a guitar and since then I have played several different instruments in a couple of bands with my friends. Today,I listen a lot to indie rock, house and electro. The second major interest in my life is travelling. I collect my travelling and adventure experiences from all around the world. In my living room,I have a huge world map where I put a pin at all the places I’ve been to. You have got to start working on your bucket list in time. Don’t let dreams just be dreams!
